Photo TR - Salt Lake Twins North Face Couloir
I'm pretty spent, as are Trackhead, Gramps and Triungulate (from TTips). Today was an EPIC in all sense of the word. 4am start time, 3pm finish time. Skinned Bonkers and then booted the north ridge of the Twins. We skied the North Face Couloir on the Twins. Trackhead nailed the money line off of the West Twin. The vid should tell it all. For now, I'll share some photos and when I'm not so hammered I'll write a proper TR. Did I mention I was so hungry I ate an entire large pizza afterwards? - gotta love the little ceasars $5 large pizza, and I was still hungry.
Another beautiful sunrise
Gramps getting some exposure
This should look familiar from our last trip there
It was very windy, and quite cold on the ridges. Oh how I love getting sand-blasted.
Cornices of unusual sizes were spotted
Gramps in the couloir - it was 2500' vert of pretty good wind buff pow, which then yeilded to henious breakable crust and then some henious slog and then we just walked in the stream - gotta wait for the vid to see the extream stuff
Triungulate in the coulior - looking smoove on tele
The damage report -
Gramps headed for the Valley - little did we know the adventure that awaited below. This little corner of the Wasatch is likely the least visited area I know about. Deaf Smith Canyon - I had never heard of it until today - I'm not so sure I want to know it more intimately than I now do.

Video work is being done now. Likely won't be up till tomorrow. And my fatigue will probably show in my editing.

Come and get it while it's hot
What a day. I love the absoloutely trippy contrast between the alpine terrain and the SLC valley below. Here is my little photo tribute to that. I've got quite a few other worthy pictures I'll try to get up later. But the ones with the valley in them always stand out for me.
Launce above Bonkers, right around dawn.
That same shot from further along. The mountains cast long shadows over the valley for a few minutes after dawn....
Derek on the summit of one of the Twins.
Bizarre shot with the valley below, Derek skiing.
And the absolute money shot of the day if not the season, for me. Derek again.
The exit was something else, but it was all very worth it...

Love those off angle shots of the city. Feels like being in a helicopter spinning out of control...I suppose. Great stuff

Damn, this is good. I can't stop whining and crying about all the lost trip reports on ttips, but the stuff going up on TGR is just awesome. Knowledgebase about the backcountry.
Anybody that's worried about their "secret stashes" getting douched is not getting it at all. There are so many mountains, so many beautiful lines to ski. Powstash, Trackhead, et al, you guys keep it up! Dave and I skied with Marmot yesterday and it did not suck. It would be cool if you guys headed over this way sometime too.Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each.
