It that Telegraph Peak in the backround?
I was planning on skiing there Friday until they closed Thunder Mountain.
Props to you for getting up there

^ Yep, wanted to make the ridge due South of Telegraph, but ran out of daylight.

The lower 3/4 of Bonanza is still in good shape and you can open it up. Fireroad is patchy & about 75% gone, and the top 100 vertical feet of Thunder is completely bare. Shortcut and Robin's still look good for rock skis. Robin's trees look doable where skier compacted. I skinned straight up the trees at the Bonanza hairpin (and came down that way) to avoid walking Fireroad, and it was just glop. Could possibly have been fun on a fat rockered ski or snowboard, but I would have been better off just walking the road until getting to the shade around the bend.

The deepest areas are East-West gullies that were cross-loaded by the wind. If you find one in the sun you might actually find some corn, but two weeks of above-freezing temps have made everything not compacted into saturated sno-cone all the way to the ground. The gullies north of Telegraph look inviting, but most of them funnel into dry chokes/cliffs/terrain traps.

Anyone make the grind to Jepson recently? Sounds like there's about three feet above 10k, with a layer of facets down low that aren't reactive right now but meltwater could change that.

I'd like to make a run at San G, but six+ weeks of above-freezing nights is too spooky, especially going solo.

Looks like the Baldy owners and locals got some good turns out of the storm:

Baldy has been calling season pass holders to renew for $149 ($199 for 1st time passholders) through the end of April. The three courtesy days at Brian Head is still on (Whyturn cashed in on those this season), plus they added five days at Las Vegas Ski & Board Resort, which is the alternate field location for the SoCal avalanche courses taught by Jeff Pierce.

Sure didn't see it mentioned in any emails or on the web site, was it even offered the 2014/2015 season?

I checked link and no mention of brianhead hook up this season? Where are you seeing that?
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

    It was in the email:

"Thank you for being a season pass holder here at Mt. Baldy. We wanted to let you know we have some new and exciting things happening here in the next few months: including zip lines, bungalows, moonlight hikes, and our many concerts (all of which you get unlimited lift access to until April 30, 2016 with your pass renewal!). Also you will receive 5 free days at Las Vegas Ski & Board Resort and 3 free days at Brian Head Resort in Utah. Below you will find the renewal rates for the new Season Pass which we are now calling the Discovery Pass."

The linked page doesn't say anything about it, it's only in the email. Looks like maybe they have different salespeople making calls/sending emails, maybe my sales guy (Chris McKenney, 909-982-0800) added the extra info.

ha, classic Baldy. I was getting one regardless, but it is a nice potential bonus. I figure the good years have covered these bad ones when it comes to the total cost...plus I don't want them to go out of business.

The 3 days at Brianhead made the last 2 season passes a win. Looking forward to trying out Las Vegas Ski Resort next season.

Soooooooooooooo it's going to snow this winter, right!??!

Just emailed Baldy to see if new pass purchases include 3 free Brian Head days. If so, I think I'm in. Mammoth pass is a bit of a stretch at the price + lack of snow of late, but I think I'm wiling to hedge my bets on Baldy.

Who else is in? Carpool from SD?

+1 for a "what the hell, why not" Baldy pass. If cards are played correctly, and if it snows, I may be up there semi guilt-free many a Thursday this winter.

Jtran, we should try to actually get up there and ski rather than just talk about it! Never been to Brian Head... Didn't even give that any consideration.

Cali4nia pass for my lady and for myself, too. Fingers crossed for the goods. Who else wants to go get silly on 23 and G2 this winter? MT_Native?
