    MPC #131: ALPENGLOW 12/12 - 1/6

After being in the finals a few times, that was my first "win". However, the way it went down kind of feels like blue balls rather than a real happy feeling in the pants (apparently I'm breaking rule #4 ).

Anyway time to get the next round fired up before the weekend.

This time around it is Alpenglow.
    Morning or evening doesn't matter.
If you don't have access to the Alps , then capturing the low sun glow lighting up something interesting works too.

    RULES:
    1. Photos must be taken within the time period of the contest.
    2. You may submit 3 photos during the competition.
    3. The contest moderator will choose 5 photos to be voted on.
    4. The winner will get a happy feeling in his/her pants. (That is a rule by the way, not an option.)
    5. In the event of a tie, the contest moderator will have the deciding vote.
    6. Winner will be the contest starter/moderator for the next comp.
    7. The winner has 3 days to start a new contest or 2nd place becomes the new winner.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Perfect theme! I've been after a good sunset for a while, but have been foiled by weather. Hopefully something will materialize before the 30th. Plus I'm going to Sydney for Christmas, so will definitely be shooting some twilight cityscapes.

I might change the end date to January 6th for this one. I know a lot of people are super busy this time of year so the extra time might be helpful to ensure there are a good number of entries. Good idea?

I had the end date changed. I hope to see some entries start filtering in.

It may be a bit complicated due to holiday events/activities, combined with the fact that you have to wait to the right conditions.

    Anyway, here's my first.

Nice start to the MPC (shades of Rohan?).
Boy am I glad I don't have to take pictures for this topic . We haven't seen the sky in N New England for almost three weeks. The forecast for the next week is not promising either.

Thanks guys. Yes, it is Rohan -- the small hill on the valley floor is Edoras. I won't get my proper shot for this MPC until after Christmas. Should hopefully get a couple up before the end.

    2. Sunrise over Canterbury this morning (technically not alpenglow, but whatever; may replace it if I get something better):

Fuzz, shooting middle earth is cheating.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Just saw this, I should be able to play. Good topic!
We heard you in our twilight caves, one hundred fathom deep below, for notes of joy can pierce the waves, that drown each sound of war and woe.

Its really hard to get a good shot while driving across the bridge.

That's a cool shot of those cooling towers. What's in the foreground? Distracting, IMO.

Thanks. It's a post off an electric fence (for some ponies, not for the nuclear plant). I was having a tough time finding a spot to shoot from without some sort of foreground distraction.

This was as good as it got:

There was a spectacular actual alpenglow sunset today but the cell phone wasn't gonna cut it.
