Great beacon. I love mine. Great range (I usually pick up a signal 55-60m out), very accurate, really easy to use.

I was using one for a few days this winter when I realized that everytime I transmitted on my radio it would shut down for a brief second and then go though it's startup procedure again. Recieving on the radio posed no problem, only when I transmitted. I think this makes it useless for patrol work. I don't know if this is only on 900mhz radios or not, but something to keep your eye on.

04-13-2005, 04:13 PM #5That actually makes sense seeing as TX is when your radio puts out a lot of power. Sounds like the Pieps was rebooting due to the radio frequency interferance.

Did you send the info to Peips? Your radio make & model would be helpfull to the engineers so that they can try to duplicate and then prevent the re-boots.Good runs when you get them.
