Some vodka tastes like nothing, most of it actually. Grey Goose, Belvedere, Chopin, etc. Those are great. But I've had some good artisan vodkas lately that are really nice, potato vodkas that actually have flavor (no, not orange).

I know, it's Aspen, but yeah, I've been drink in this stuff lately and liking it. I think they grow the potatoes in CO too.

Another +1 for Tito's. You can spend a lot more $ for moderately better poison.

    If you can find it:

BEST vodka ever. Had none of that alcohol burn, the smoothest spirit i have ever tasted. You literally could drink it straight like water.

A good vodka is supposed to be tasteless. And Stolichnaya is the genuine stuff to compliment your caviar or your bloody mary.
If you care for some fancier stuff, try Idôl (yes, with a douche circumflex accent). It's french, it's made of grape, it's appropriately expensive and it's actualy pretty tasty. Ciroc is the same kind of product.
(of course, it's basicaly a marc blanc, but who would buy a french grappa ?)

"Nelson stands up slowly, shambles from the stove to the sink, reaches into the overhead cabinet on the right, next to the small square window that looks into the darkness of the backyard and field and woods beyond, and he draws out the bottle of vodka. With his other hand he reaches into the overhead cabinet on the left and plucks a juice glass from a stack and places it on the drainboard. His right hand trembling only slightly, he fills the glass with vodka, recaps the bottle, and places it inside the cabinet, and now he enjoys his first drink of the day, a deliberate. slow act as measured and radiant as a sacrament, as sweet to him as the sun rising over the winter-burnt New Hampshire hills, as clean as a new frost. The first drink is the best drink of the day. It's as if all the others he drinks from now until he falls back into his bed tonight he drinks solely to make this first drink wonderful. Without them and the need they create in his blood, this first drink would be as nothing, a mere preliminary to preliminaries. With them, it's the culmination of Nelson's day. He sips at the vodka steadily, as if nibbling at it, and his gratitude for it is nearly boundless, and though he appears to be studying the darkness out the window, he's seeing only as far as the glass in his hand and is thinking only about the vodka as it fits like a tiny, pellucid pouch into his mouth, breaks into a thin stream, and rolls into his throat, warming his chest as it passes and descends into his stomach, where the alcohol enters his blood and then his heart and brain, enlarging him and bringing him to heated life, filling the stony, cold man with light and feeling and sentiment, blessing him with an exact nostalgia for the very seconds of his life as they pass, which in this man is as close to love as he has been able to come for years, maybe since childhood."

    Russell Banks, "The Woodpile"

    BTW, I like Belvedere.

So you are saying I have a drinking problem? +++vibes+++ for your friend. Not everybody has a good time with the fire water.

In my case I was at a party and someone was buying so I was drinking, more than my fair share too. And I have been waiting years to pull the FUCK, IT'S VODKA!!! trick on someone. Oh, and I like Grey Goose neat for sipping like I'd sip a Scotch. I'm weird like that. I'll have to try some of these other Vodkas.

Christ, we used to buy handles of Crystal Palace to make trashcan punch in college. That shit was HORRIBLE and almost always caused a nasty hangover. That said, I rarely drink vodka. Clear liquor is for the wimmen.

A lot of my vodka drinking friends seem to like Tito's for a value vodka.

Isn't Tito's just swill with a good price point and great marketing? I drink it all the time but I'm no connoisseur, just a drunk. There is that class action lawsuit against them for their "handmade" claims.

So I drink Vodka…lots of it. Was a beer guy but Dr. says no more. Chopin, Goose, Kettle all good but save it for martinis etc. My go to is Stoli or Tito's and soda with a splash of cran. Yes its a pink drink but fuck em. As of late I'm trying to spread some luv to some localish stuff like Berkshire or the Stowe guys…Smugglers and Green Mtn. There is swill and there is pompous dbag. Anything in between is fine by me.

Edit..enjoying a Green Mtn and soda with a big orange slice watching the dumpage.

My Polish buddy drank Seagrams, claimed it was best value vodka. I like Monopolowa or however the hell you spell it, Tito's, Crater, Bend, and Woody Creek. Sky is a better mass produced one made in the US.

Avoiding Russian products due to Putin's bullshit. Stoli is good though...

I'm a martini girl, and drink only Tito's or Chopin. If a bar carries Russian Standard, I order it (rare though)

A handle of stoli lives in the freezer. I take it straight, the lady always mixes so it's a reasonable compromise.
