Wax skis has to be one of the steps. Same goes for strapping on the LesboStrap2000
I hate it when people who used to contribute but now only lurk post shit like "it used to be better when... [I used to post regularly]." Whose fault is that, exactly? There were douchebags back in 2003 too.

This place has less baggage and less ego than every other forum I've found.

Actually your hearing starts going as you age and you lose the ability to hear the high notes.
People have been using the internet to physically connect with people since the 1980's with the CompuServe Forums and flying to Miami or Annapolis or Auckland to meet up at events was a yearly deal. It was definitely the dawn of time, Michael Dell was still working in his garage and and supporting his products personally but that is still happening today it's just that you won't know it was a Michael Dell or a Jake Carpenter you were dealing with on some gamer or ski or app forum for another 20 internet years.
Think of it as the big bang theory, way more neat stuff in the online universe than back then.
Like good forum software...sheesh....upgrade to XenForo this is like skiing on wooden skis.

I had a uvvarpa account in 88 or 89. Trolled the shit out of wreck.moto, climbing, and skiing. Helped start rec.music.phish back in '89. Me and Matt Hoffman from UMASS got them from a listserve to a usenet group.
We have been on wooden skis for a very long time. Bumped into Kya at the brewery after a moto tour and my growler had a '06 mag summit sticker on it. So good keeping up with the good folks, and his family, etc.
So, who is going to keep the torch rolling? Step up!Is it radix panax notoginseng? - splat

I think people just got tired of Hugh, it is an extremely rare occurrence when I think he has said anything remotely funny. I can't even fathom why he takes the time to say all the shit he does. I can't even imagine why he wastes all that time to post so much shit.
I have never been a prolific poster and never will be, but I also think the people that used to be around were a lot more original and funny. I can't recall any thread like some of the old stuff being posted here in awhile. There used to be a lot more women on this board too and they handled and also dished right back the comments on this board. At one time they even were going to put together a calendar. The biggest problem is it just got too big and lost the family type atmosphere. The pacifists always lose, because the anti-pacifists kill them.

I think the best analogy of the history of this place that I can think of is this place used to be a small mountain town with a lot of diverse people who shared a passion for skiing. Now this place has turned into a city with all the crap that a city has and even the liberal leaning bent to it.

I thought Usenet was a lot of fun until all the mouthbreathers showed up.

Started the forum thing at VWVortex for a couple of years, then migrated here and found it less moderated and more fun.
But yeah, some things that used to be fun aren't so much anymore. Not sure who changed!?!... jfost is really ignorant, he often just needs simple facts laid out for him...
