'Land Of No Use' Full-Length MT ski film
Montana mags, and many others, are really gonna like this full-length amateur ski movie/documentary about Montana's remote Wilderness Areas. Lots of cool stories, people, terrain, and skiing in this one:

I enjoyed it the first time around at the Cats Paw. Gonna watch it again so I can hear the dialogue this time.

This was an amazing film. Nothing amateur about it at all. The interspersed commentary on Wilderness areas was a great addition I thought.

Yeah, definitely not amateurish at all. You don't have to have helis and the latest Red Dragon shit to put out a professional product.
The wilderness theme and presenting the different sides of the issue was a great unifier. Way better than most ski porn "themes." Great job.

More good work. People, skiing, stories... minus any hero worshipping or pro-on-pro commentary.

Thought this film was outstanding, thanks for posting dunfer. Very inspiring and as other said - very well made but I thought the story was the most impressive. I'm normally more attracted to ski-heavy films, rather than the forced storyline you see in most modern ski productions. Look forward to seeing more from these folks.

Got to bump this! Great 'can't we all just pull our heads from our assess and figure this thing out' thread through the whole thing. Loved the segment on the Missions- good times. Almost made me wish that I lived on the other side of the divide again.
And the skiing was pretty good too!

Enjoyable ski porn, and the desire to create and further a dialogue on wilderness is an admirable one, but I thought whatever message they had was muddled, and fell short of creating or furthering that dialogue. Forgive me if I didn't notice it but as far as I could tell they never even explained the title in the movie, which I think came from some politician referring to wilderness as land of no use?
I also felt they could of done a much better job explaining the shortcomings of wilderness as a legal designation, namely how it divides and alienates user groups from each other, such as snowmobilers or mnt bikers, who are pro conservation and want to see the land preserved as it is, but cannot support wilderness designations that would make it a felony for them to continue to recreate in these areas in their chosen manner, even though does not have any real negative impact on the land. If you are already aware of this situation, you will notice that the film touched on it, but it presented it in such a way that if youre a sierra clubber living in LA you wouldn't have gained any insight into the situation at all.
In short, its an enjoyable film if you are the choir they are preaching to, but falls well short of its goal of creating any more awareness about any of these issues for non core bro brah ski people. I guess it doesn't really matter cus the only people who will watch it are probably already BC skiers anyways, and they will probably enjoy it as I did.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________________

I was trying to see if they submitted this to any festivals this year. Anyone know? This film has Banff Mountain Film Fest written all over it.

It's a real shame that was only 40 minutes long. I could have happily had another hour of that.
Short stories about snow and rock, and pictures, too
