Access is at an all time high for practically February. Snowline is solidly at treeline with minimal postholing/shitty skinning possibiltiies... Anyone want to get weird in the alpine this week?

I wonder if there's any chance of getting the 410 FS roads ungated?

i'll cruise groomers until the snow comes back. it's not what i think of when i think of snowboarding, but love big long turns at high speed. good way to get in shape for powder anyway.

^^^^ cruising groomers wont strengthen you for powder skiing, any fool knows they are totally different muscle groups that are used

Bolt cutters? I haven't gotten up there at all. If there's no powder biking is still fun.

I find typing to be the best cross-training for pow skiing.

I went up to Mt Baker on Sunday after the last round of pineapples. Things didn't fair well at the lower elevations. There were some good spring turns to be had however on the runs steeper than a green circle (all 3 of them )

1/26/15 – Monday was a very pleasant late spring/sunny summer day at Crystal. The snow cover was pretty low low down but the upper mountain groomed was tolerable except for the spots that even a groomer could not have an impact on since those were hard as glass glazed over bits in the shade that tried to kill you. There’s lots of open dirt near the bottom of the hill, but full (thin) cover up above the REX & Queen load points. Not very busy at all, just skied right onto the lifts. High C and the Gondy were closed due to the 55 degree wind and lack of demand. TomK & Kerry, and Bob.
Good runs when you get them.

Hood was good once above the clouds, and summit was cloud show for most of the day. More like Jan underfoot today -

Feel bad for all the staff (as well as us poor bastards). Lets hope we get a reset before everyone already has other jobs or moved back to where ever they came from.

    A reset?

    Hardly.

    The 3.00 pm

LONG TERM...A WARM FRONT WILL BRING SOME RAIN TO THE AREA ON SUNDAY
AS IT MOVES INLAND. BUT THIS SYSTEM IS LOOKING SLOWER AND WEAKER
WITH EACH NEW MODEL SOLUTION. A WETTER PACIFIC FRONTAL SYSTEM WILL
THEN REACH THE AREA ON MON FOR ANOTHER SHOT OF RAIN. SNOW LEVEL ARE
A LITTLE LOWER WITH THIS SYSTEM AROUND 4000-5000 FT. THE GFS TRIES
TO BUILD ANOTHER RIDGE OVER THE REGION TUE AND WED. THE ECMWF
HOWEVER STEERS SOME MOISTURE OUR WAY FOR WETTER WEATHER PATTERN.
CONFIDENCE REMAINS LOW AT THIS POINT.

Where is this info from? Always looking for new sources. No matter how dismal.
