Howdy folks! I just moved up to the seattle area from San Francisco where my home mountain was kirkwood the past few years. I decided on the the Snoqualmie pass and will do day trips to Stevens/Baker/Crystal to figure out which pass ill be getting next year. Pretty damn excited to get laps in after work this year, and generally explore some new mtns. From everything im reading though, Alpy may have the goods!

Day passes are comparatively cheap up here, but any pointers on discount day tix would be awesome. Any mtns conducive to car camping? Traffic shitshows to avoid? Pro skiers to call out? Ski patrol to bring donuts?

Get a wetsuit or heavy weather oilskins.

Cheap day tix are rare, sometimes available more towards spring.
All Puget Sound areas (Crustal, Alpental, Stevens) are amenable to car camping. See lot 3 @ Alpental, though lot 4 is where the real miscreants fire and conspire.
Despite a few snobby, clubby types, one of the nice things about the PNW is the lack of pros or pro attitude.

Get an REI membership, which gets you the stevens advantage pass. save a few $$ each time and 4th visit is free. Pay cash at baker.

And don't start with "I'm from CA"

Lose the plates and put a 12 sticker on. You'll fit right in. Gore-tex is your friend.

Funny thing is that I've found the opposite to be true of saying "I'm from AK."

I hope you say it that way. It's sooo much cooler when you abbreviate it during conversation

I've made the mistake of saying I learned to ski in the 10th mt. in AK. Which was truth but you'd better have your shit stacked straight.

The same applies when telling folks in AK your local hill is Alpental. For some reason, padded seat occupants get a lot of respect around the world...

You can blame my friend for any shitty, slow-starting seasons you might have in Callitradbro. He reloc'd from Seattle -> Boulder after winter false-started last season in the PNW and was delayed 5 weeks. Within a week of his departure, the skies opened up and it dumped nonstop for a month.

As long as you remember the one rule: Do not fall.
The trumpet scatters its awful sound Over the graves of all lands Summoning all before the throne

Death and mankind shall be stunned When Nature arises To give account before the Judge
