George Carlin Honored in NYC
Great little article.
And when the crowd had mostly cleared, Mr. Carlin’s older brother, Patrick, 83, crossed Morningside Drive with a family friend from the neighborhood — where the Carlin family had lived — settled into a familiar perch beneath a tree and smoked marijuana, just off George Carlin Way.
“This,” the elder Carlin said, lifting a joint to his lips, “is how you honor George Carlin.”

I don't know about that smoke under a tree thing. I would honor him by standing on a soapbox on the corner of Spring and West Broadway in the middle of the day on a Saturday and give the euro trash and tourists an earful. After smoking a joint, of course.

First Carlin, then just recently Robin Williams (unless I was just dreaming that and Williams is still alive)....for me that only leaves one comedian left: Stephen Wright. I sure hope he hangs around a while.
My favorite Carlin skit:
Two construction workers are sitting down for lunch on the job site. Worker #1: " I'm gonna take a shit.". Worker #2: "Well, don't take one of MY shits....I only got two left and the weekend's coming up!!"
And then Carlin continues in pure Carlinesque form: "Hey...aren't you supposed to LEAVE a shit...not TAKE a shit? The English language...ain't it great?""The reason death sticks so closely to life isn't biological necessity - it's envy. Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it; a jealous, possesive love that grabs at what it can." by Yann Martel from Life of Pi

Dark humor??? Yer not an Andrew Dice Clay fan, are you??? That guy has always reminded me of a wife-beater, though.
But seriously, it's SW's seemingly out-of-the-box imagination combined with his deadpan face that had always made me laugh...that and the fact that he always reminded me a little of Art Garfunkel. I think they could have been brothers."The reason death sticks so closely to life isn't biological necessity - it's envy.
