Salomon guardian 13 heel plastic mounting strips vs. guardian 16 metal ones..

Does any one know if you can buy/find the metal heel mounting strips (not sure what else to call them but they are pictured below), that come with Guardian/Tracker 16 instead of the plastic ones that come with the 13? I have the 13's and about the only thing about them that doesn't inspire confidence are those plastic strips. I was thinking about trying to find the metal ones instead and swapping them out. Worrying about nothing? I have not tried contacting Salomon yet about trying to get theses.

Here are the metal ones that come with the 16's, on the 13's these are black plastic instead.

But if you insist on upgrading, just know that Salomon's spare parts department is intolerably slow and incompetent. You might wait a while to get what you want.

The 2014-2015 Salomon Shop Manual says you have to buy a whole new heel mounting assembly, part #L3765040001

So, really: ain't broke. don't fix.
