Thanks. Guess I'd better try to find a place to try the 130s on.

Anyone try to lighten up their 120's by switching out to the lighter buckles/bales from the Light Pro? The 14/15 Light Pro hardware looks to be a lot lighter compared to the oversized buckles and bales on the '13, 120 that I have. Maybe I can get them directly from Tecnica.

The green/yellow 120s are the best looking boots out there. They look good. Ski and walk pretty darn well too, but damn they look good.

My guess is that you'd only save about 50g per boot.

. Agreed, probably not worth the effort/cost. A bit of grinding with a dremel tool on some of the extraneous/designy parts of the buckles would probably accomplish the same thing or more.

Yeah not worth the effort. Liner is the biggest weight difference between the two boots. Can't remember but I think it's roughly a 200g difference between the Palau liner and the Cochise 120 liner.

While the Palau liner isn't exactly awesome it's gotten a lot better over the last few years. First gen was pretty bad, the upper was way too thin. Next gen was thicker and this year's is even more so. The liners fit much better in the calf/shin area than they used to.

How do these Technica's fit length wise - I'm thinking of ordering a pair or two of 2015 120's online to try the fit. Sounds like they might fit my wide forefoot, narrow heal. True to size? I'm an 11 and heel to the end of big toe is 280 mm or so. I wear Scarpa 28.0 T1's that fit like gloves and some old Scarpa Tornado'size 28 with oversized 28.5 liners that my feet swim like eels in because of way to much volume up front. No idea how long my old Technica 98 mm racing boots are - I never wear them because I can barely squeeze my forefeet into them and they make my feet hurt and freeze.

    Shoot for a 28?

I'm just worried by the time I get out west everything will be sold out. They sell these in half sizes right? Some e-tailers are showing only 1 cm sizes and others show 1/2 cm increments.

    I wear a 13 and ski the 28.5. If you're an 11 I would go 27.5.

Generally only sold in the half size... 26.5, 27.5, 28.5

No difference between a 27.0 and a 27.5 other than the thickness of the stock footbed.

    2014 Technica Cochise Boot line

9.5 in a 25.5, slightly short in the stock liner (2014 does better here), but money with a 26 Intuition

Just curious as I have issues with the inserts on my good ol' cochise boots (12/13-ish bronze coloured), are the new AT/tech soles improved or are the inserts still bad designed/getting worn fast?

I'm about to either a) get new replacement soles or b) get a pair of scarpa freedom sl's for my dynafiddles and regular alpine soles to the cochises and use them inbounds.

    Thanks

Same thing for me on the old style 120 but w/ a 27 Intuition PW that helps with the chicken leg syndrome and keeps things light.

11 shoe and a 27.5 in the older version. Newer version incoming in the same size. I'll update again once I get them. Does anyone know if the tech soles from the older version will still work? I don't see why they wouldn't.

Yah it's a 260g difference from stock liners to say an Intuition liner.

Here's a review of the 2014 -15 Tecnica Cochise 120s. Thanks to Tecnica and Wasatchback for letting me try them out. Thanks also to marshalolson and FK for opening my mind to the boots

    ^Thanks for that. Good read.

I have my 27.5's now. So far they seem like a good (super tight though) fit for my size 11 feet. BSL is 320 which is actually longer than my old boots at 28.

You are right about the low volume above the foot and lack of need to buckle them down tight (at least in my living room) - this is huge for me. Good wiggle room in toes. Super hard to get my wide forefeet into them though with the stock liners. Hopefully they work out.

Ugly - I had an aggressive liner cook at my forefoot and it did the trick. I love that heel pocket grip though
