Some states only need a pay stub that has your last four digits of your SS number for SS verification. Just got a vt license from Utah, so I could get a Motorcycle endorsement and that was the case. Everyone was very helpful, but it took me two trips to get the paperwork right

Hey I knew when I was getting into when I moved here. I have spotted Texas skiers all across the west and Canada. Never really understood until I worked down here at a ski shop for a season.
I have never witnessed a cross of cool people who live here and ski everywhere and are are pretty awesome and I'm glad to help them out as they know wtf they are talking about.
Now the rest of the umm texans that get the bad rap you have two types rednecks with no skills and alcohol fulled balls that will do whatever it takes to get er done! Funny as long as they only hurt themselves.
The other is fucking unbelievable, the family needs everything to look like a skier. Top of the line everything and every one MUST have after ski boots for the snow. Umm your going to Taos for the weekend and they have no snow until you get to the lift.
Bitchy rich mom "What do you suggest they wear?"
Me "Well the shoes they have on now is fine" (We are wiped out of stock for this at $70 -$200 per person.
Bitchy rich mom" Have you even skied before"
Me"umm yes I was skiing before you were born"
This happened more than once

Works fine if you have the sort of problem that you can make an appointment for--although I've never had to wait less than 30 minutes past my appointment time. If you have to get something straightened out that you can't make an appointment for or have to get it done in a hurry, good luck. My wife spent an entire day in the Truckee DMV trying to straighten out a lost boat registration. When she asked for a complaint form so she could complain about the service the asshole clerk gave my wife a stack of them and told her to give them out to her friends.

< shrug > CA DMV is like everything else in life, show up early, come with everything you think you need, be polite, pay cash.

Doesn't the TX DMV have an all-you-can-eat buffet and 72oz. steak challenge at every location?

I've been to hell I spell it,
I spell it DMV.
Anyone who's been there knows precisely what I mean.
Stood there and I've waited and choked back the urge to scream.
And if I had my druthers I'd screw a chimpanzee. Call it pointless.Move upside and let the man go through...

One hint is to go to the dmv closest to the nicest town around. Same with public libraries, which, honestly, could do this country a shitload of good if there were more of them that were good. That's a different thread though-

Have only been in the Dallas area a year and have young kids so haven't ventured out too much but Uptown seems where the uniqueness is and the hipsters hang out. Have heard The Treehouse is a decent bar, but I'm not really one to ask. Austin is by far the best of the big cities IMO.

Check out Lower Greenville, several decent eateries and bars in that area. The Truck Yard is a fun place with rotating food trucks nightly but a full time bar and seating area.
Some good stuff in Deep Ellum.
Maple and Motor is good for burgers (sort of close to downtown).
Uptown is annoying in my opinion. Lots of the "we just turned 30, bought a house nearby, and wear v-neck sweaters everywhere" types. Not my scene.
I have no idea about high class establishments like Old Larry and his loafers would want to visit.

TEXAS CITY, Texas (AP) — A Texas woman whose four pit bulls entered her neighbors' yard through a hole in the fence and killed their 10-year-old beagle is suing them for $1 million.
Emerald White says in her lawsuit filed this week in Galveston County district court that she was "seriously injured" on Oct. 27 trying to stop the attack and retrieve her dogs. She says she suffered "multiple serious bite and scratch-type injuries" and accuses her neighbors of failing to securely confine and restrict their dog, Bailey.
Bailey's owner, Steve Baker, told The Galveston County Daily News (http://bit.ly/1xrtxoU ) that everyone was telling him to sue White but that he didn't because it wouldn't bring Bailey back and the police declared her dogs dangerous.
The paper says White's attorney didn't respond to calls seeking comment.Forum Cross Pollinator, gratuitously strident
