FYI for anyone who uses the upper lot at timber creek @ KW. It is no more. Condos going in. Plan is to create more parking down in the swamp. But nothing is cleared yet. So there is a good chance there could be less in valley parking this coming season. The lot was a good 250 spots.

Go for the passion Dragon. Mix of hop dragon and passion song. Or something like that.

Do any Tahoe area mags have a couch that a Forest Service bum could snag from now until 9/7 or anywhere in the days of 9/17-9/22. I got ousted from the spot I was working in Idaho due to Forest budget and was re-stationed down here working on the El Dorado NF between Kirkwood and Bear Valley Resort

How long until we are shuttling in like N*. Thankfully my youngest has grown out of the TC terrain. That lot was a savior when I was the family sherpa!

Only a matter of time I suspect, but even if that happens, it's really not that bad. I usually only go to N* on storm days when I know Squawlpine is going to have the upper mountain closed, but getting there not long before opening (say just after 8am for 8:30 lifts spinning) I can almost always park pretty close to the village and avoid the shuttle nonsense. On the other hand, when the kids are in tow we're always arriving a bit later and then it's a pain in the ass... should be less so as they get older, but whatever.

My siblings. I'm unfortunately in Western CA taking care of children. May try to catch the SF show.

    South Lake Tahoe Eats

The other recs cover the Meyers/Y area, so I'll cover the casino/downtown area.

Taqueria Jimenez. $1 tacos. Cheapest eats downtown and actually good. Less than two blocks from the gondola.
    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Taque...m&z=17&iwloc=A

Sushi Pier. All you can eat. Delicious, fresh, good quality fish. $3 locals discount and lunch price lasts until 3PM. Sit at the bar or service can be spotty. Very busy at peak dinner hours, so come early.
    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Sushi...+pier&t=m&z=17

Latin Soul. Everything from huge $2 fish tacos to burritos to arepas to high-dollar South American entrees. Tasty free chips and salsa. In the basement of the Lakeside.

    +1 for Artemis.

Plenty of people getting higher that night, but I'm just jonesing for winter.

Good to see you there PD and Hutch. Sorry they wouldn't let Nacho in. Maybe we should put together a doggie stoke edit and pitch it to TGR.

Dood, Fail closed that operation down twenty minutes after the bought the valley. I mean if you don't want the RV riff raff, ya certainly don't want those hostel types.

And now they are complaining not enough people frequent the valley, and won't put any money into the lifts until it gets busier. Certainly not gonna happen when you shut out half of your public. But at least we have that fancy new Austrian built glad bar to buy $10 craft brews in.

But I'm sure less parking further away from the lifts that don't work sure will bring the crowds. At least on powder days when it is raining at the lake.

    Posting in this important thread.

New (to me) Truckee eats addition, date night division: Stella. Hampered by its location on the road to Flatstar. Not cheap by a long shot, and the price for the four-course tasting menu went up 15% to $69 over the course of this summer. But high value nonetheless, considering it's some of the best food I've ever had, and I've spent a fair amount of time in the culinary capitals of the world.

we all know they're not in it to sell skiing. it's about selling real estate. and $10 beers.

i have to hope and pray the people they want to sell real estate to aren't gonna like the mountain.

I found it riveting and intense as expected. It is a welcome break from the endless ski porn that tends to make up modern ski flicks. What I don't understand is how Jones can walk around comfortably when he's obv got such huge nads. Unreal. Interestingly, my favorite part was the first mission they put together, (probably pointless, but I'm attempting not to spoil it) That was a heavy, heavy line not the heaviest in the film but for some reason it really resonated with me, plus the snow and conditions were insane, that is a once in a lifetime descent that's for sure! Couldn't have asked for a better flick really!

Right on! I similarly found the pacing and emotional up and downs–if I can say that–of that first line was pretty incredible. Glad you liked it so much!

Now that I'm a south lake resident, should I go tahoe local pass or kirkwood only no blackouts? Already have Sierra covered and don't think I'd go to heav that much, and never flatstar.
