    Found Art

The web is vast, and I spend my downtime between shooting another talking head or pseudo-newsworthy event surfing it (thus the post count.) Sometimes I run across an image that just blows me away. I'd like to make a repository for such images, with your approval. Here's one that I couldn't ignore:

No idea who shot it and when. Caption on the web page it was on said "Morning in Norway." Whatever - it is beautiful. Let's see what you skim...

Hmmh... (Mis)Read your post, got stoked about the picture as we all are pining for the fjords, started to think about the thin line between "a gorgeous picture"
and and "art", made a 17 picture post of my own favourites from the history of photography...and aptly deleted it as I realized this post was not about "photo art",
nor history of photography nor pictures that I have been inspired off.

So basically I bonked myself right at the gates...

And now that I sit down and think "when have I last time seen a piece of art" pop up in the digital stream...damn..

Ok, but this I do remember from year or two ago. Made me pick up few books and realize how fucking amazing photographer
    Sebastiao Salgado is.

As a side note, I also realize that in my initial "post" first 15 photogs were geezers that shot in B&W. Dont know if it is purely because of the images
itself or the way my brain processes the archives...weird. And a nice topic in general, not only in the sense "what is art" but what makes us tick..

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

I looks like whomever took the original image has lost control of it on the web. Too bad.

This is the worst pain EVER!

At some point was half jokingly talking about setting up a company/institution that would look after image rights for a 25% profit.
The abuse atm is just absurd. You can see almost daily some international companies plucking up some images for their campaigns
    with basically no consequences...bastards...

    Oh well.

Well, now back to topic. Old Hong Kong geezer, Fang Ho that I have never heard of..providing absolutely brilliant images.

    Good shit. ^^^

My take is if you post it online w/o a watermark you were simply looking to share a nice shot you took, and are stoked no matter who ends up using it. Not good for peeps looking to make money off photography but it might actually up the ante and weed out some of the "Dentists with DSLRs" like me. If you're looking to keep "rights" then fucking watermark that shit, which the Photog in my OP could have easily done w/o affecting the beauty/art of the picture too much to share. All I'm looking to do is spread the word about a beautiful picture.

^^^^ when a website wants to license one of your photos, sometimes they don't want the fucking watermarked version on their homepage. they paid for that image to be published on their site, without watermark. the people who may have taken it from there and redistributed it---not so much.
