RIP -J.....
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

A sad chapter. It's got to be tough to be one of the originators of style and have things just slip out of your grasp. RIP.

Grew up with Jay, and spent many afternoons at Kenter Canyon school watching him and the boyz skate. We just lost Shogo a few weeks ago - also suddenly - and so my group of friends are absolutely devastated. It's really sad, Jay was really happy these past years. Thankfully, he died in his sleep and had a magnificent day surfing in Mexico, I hear he spent the day laughing and having a blast.
I'm scared to open facebook lately, to see who died today..

was on the local park team, devoured the mags relentlessly, spent endless hours fall 1977 trying to land what would become handplants based on the pictures because we were sure if it was in the mag he was landing it. What a life.
Cahill, Cullen, binack, kubo, any others?"Can't you see..."
