vastly underestimated.
with death toll at over 1,100, WHO suggests it could actually be much higher.

Anyone who thought that an infected but not yet violently ill person wouldn't make it to the United States is delusional. The room for debate is whether or not we will be able to effectively contain it. My money is on yes, but not before we see a lot more people flying back here with it.

IMHO I don't forsee any US outbreaks spreading past a couple family members and maybe a nurse or two. It sounds like it's just too hard to spread it through body fluid alone once it's in full affect.
This isn't the flu. It has a low rate of contagion. and we're not Africa

Have you been to a Whole Foods lately? They have everything you need to live forever, and even a sustainably sourced brown paper bag to fill with shit, ignite and leave on your evil Western medicine-practicing doctor's porch.
I agree that we aren't going to see a domestic outbreak of it, but I do think that there will be more than a handful of infected people trickling into the country over the next few months.

Meanwhile at least some NGO's have been pulling their people out.

To be fair--not a lot skilled medical personnel can do for Ebola patients in Africa given the facilities and lack of supplies. This thing needs a whole lot more money. I saw a clip of Dr Brantley's news conference--he was standing with the team that took care of him at Emory. Dozens of people. I wonder what someone in Liberia or Guinea thinks when they see something like that.
