gripen - I didn't know that. That's very good, and much more interesting than binding fetishism.

pretty big difference between discussing or envying the guy's abilities and aping him like a braindead zombie. since his abilities seem to be so ...uh... elite, doesn't that make it even more ridiculous to imitate him gear-wise? I think I've even said this before -- if you're not ever bobbled off the sweet spot, you can probably do like him gear-wise.

you'd have to be literacy-challenged to think I'm saying he ain't shit when I make fun of the worship displayed.

I didn't have barspinny stuff that I never used, because I never pretended I was a DJ'er or street tricker. you could have a foggy memory or maybe even be confusing me with someone else. I've never pretended at BMX skill DJ skill slopestyle skill, not even online for a laugh. you'd have a hard time showing me seriously pretending, online or meatspace, at something I'm not. (well, if you went back to when I was 15, I bet I did some shit to fit in, like drinking way too much and puking on my shoes, and I may even have done that as an adult 1x or more) hey, that's maybe even the source of my japes online.

I did have Saf-Tey Team hat & jersey things, I think they were given to me. I suppose in a pinch, stretching the parallel to its limit, you could call being one of a group of 10 or 12 the same as everyone wanting to be Hoji by buying his gear. however, that kind of wannabe stuff should be left to teenagers, shouldn't it?

does buying the gear of our hero make us our hero? or does it just make us an imitator? thanks for the mammaries, though. I may have to go find my Saf-Tey Team jersey in an old drawer.

the internet, so hard to understand when you think it's reality and you ignore meatspace in favor of it

why does anyone think making fun of people who buy a certain ski/binding/boot/hat/brand of energy gel wanting to be Hjorliefson is the same as saying Hjorliefson ain't a good dude, a great skier, a smart tinkerer? and what does any of this have to do with Marker creating a pintech binding?

HahaOf course you didn't. Just didn't want people to get the wrong impression. Not everyone here is bright enough to distinguish sarcasm from fact... Unsurprisingly!!

As a disclaimer I don't own any 4FRNT skis, but I don't see why it's such a crazy idea for someone to think that maybe a really good skier whose style they admire might have some useful input into the design of a ski and therefore be interested in trying it. As for the hat and energy gel, well, yeah, but are there many non-teenagers who actually take it that far? I'm sure a few but I'm guessing not as many as you would presume.

Meanwhile, I'm really hoping someone from Marker stumbles across this thread and wonders WTF everyone is talking about Hoji for. Haha.

nice straw-man, I raise Issue A, you raise Issue Z and contradict Z and pretend you are talking about A. classic trustafarian, slept through logic at Hotchkiss and at Dartmouth.

re-read my comments and show me where I said nobody should think Mr H has any quality input on ski design.

are you as constantly in-balance as he is? maybe his designs and gear choices will work for you, then.

^^ I think you're over-thinking this one a bit. I wasn't disagreeing with you when you said bashing on mindless followers isn't the same as bashing Hoji - I thought that much was obvious. My only point was buying skis because of the athlete behind them makes some sense and I wouldn't really group that in with the other stuff you were talking about.

Not sure how any of that translates to me being a trustafarian, though.

good job! be sure to take that trustafarian label literally and whip out your last tax return to prove you don't receive trust fund disbursements. the "sleeping through logic at Hotchkiss and Dartmouth" bit is deadly literal too, so don't forget to prove you didn't attend either school. nice hasbarat!

Yeah, I'd to get updates on the binding too (not the lover's quarrel going on). Maybe we just need a new thread?

ISPO is 6 months away, this thread can be douche/love fest free, but I doubt there will be much useful information until then. or not.

Here's a photo of the King I snapped at our shop when they were in. The tech toe, as described, can be seen on the front of the mounting block. This version only had one lifter. The alpine heal piece can not be seen because it is mounted on the ski. What that fellow in the email never noticed was that the binding is much like a trekker, but with tech components.

Sooo... it's not a tech binding, just an improved touring adapter?

    Edit: I've been had!

    Marker Kingpin Tech Binding thread

Since the other thread ended up a shitstorm of drama worthy of deletion...the embargo date for Kingpin binding info & photos is September 1st (according to Wildsnow), so we only have to wait a few more days.

    Very curious!
