    Used Truck Advice

In need of a used truck. Looking for something 2010-2013 50k or so. What models are good in this time frame? Need full size or bigger -- crew cab and full length bed. As a reference point, I drove a 2007 Chevy 1500 for six years and loved it so inclined to look at Silverados, but open to other suggestions.

Nothing at this point other than bikes, camping and skiing gear. Will be a long time buy and hold so always want the option to haul bigger toys down the road.

    Used Truck Advice

Nothing more reliable than a ford

But seriously they are fantastic trucks, especially the 2011 and onwards. If you can i'd say get the ecoboost engine. Hauls some serious ass. Love our 12' f150 lariat super crew. Put over 20,000 in the first year, will be close to 40,000 by two. No issues so far; great for pretty much what you described. We also haul a 5000lb boat and trailer- not even close to its max capacity- but you really can't feel it much behind the truck. Engine makes so much torque it's ridiculous. Great at high speeds and has a really roomy cab for cargo with the seats folded up.

Always owned GM cars because we get the employee's discount due to family in Michigan- but glad we paid a bit more for the ford.

I know I'm tooting the horn a little bit but just very happy with the decision, would highly recommend

What ever you do if you buy a GM product and it has the 6 speed automatic make dam sure it doesn't have the eco pack or the super high rear end ratio. To late and not near my computer but I want to say the 3.08 rear end ratio sucks. 6400 towing capacity vs 9600 the way I have my 2012 Sierra 1500 equipped more get up and go as well.

Didn't read the thread, but I thought you were moving to the Boston area. If so, then this is not the vehicle you want.

fyi, this is a 2500 by definition...1500s only come in extended cab w/ 8' bed

i had the same criteria and found a 2011 2500hd w/ 26k miles for about $30k. it took a few months of searching, tho

I liked the F150s I had, and I really like the Titan I currently have, but I loved my Duramax.

Which version of the D max did you end up with? Some are WAY better than others, and some of the early ones have a known injector problem. With my old one (2002 model) I found a pretty handy forum with a lot of info here:

Happy driving, I still miss that engine.
