Fuck I miss working 4-10s. I also briefly worked 3-12s and a 4, which was pretty sweet if you don't mind not having free time for 3 days a week.

Now I'm on 5-8s again, it's tolerable because I live 7 minutes from work and 10-15 minutes from the ski hill/lake/singletrack etc. I can take pow days/morning off whenever I like, I just don't get paid.

By that definition, I'm definitely a hick, especially the unrefined and lacking culture part.

I worked in broadcasting for 20 years within 25 miles of the shity; now I make roughly the same working in the sticks, but don't have to spend half my wages on commuting and "getting away from it all".

I'd rather be a hick and be close to all the things I love doing, than a citiot, road-raging it out on my commute to work, and to all the other things I love doing.
