Thanks guys, thought coastalwatch might've underestimated it a bit. They're calling for 10-12ft at 12sec Sat morning, some massive low off of tasmania. Unfortunately looks to be somewhat onshore though. I'll bring the camera down and see if any of the guns are out, most everyone here is hoping conditions are good enough to run the redbull cape fear at Ours

even by aussie standards it is NOT 5-6ft. because 5-6ft aussie style are about overhead (10ft) to double oerhead faces.
THAT is easily tripple oh. so 15-20ft faces. would be 8-10ft aussie sandbag measuring.
Hawaiian scale it could be 5-6ft. The only way to comprehend their easuring is 6ft Hawaii is 6m face. easy enoughIt's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

nice pics
5-6' swell at 20 seconds on a direct hit will break about 10-12 on the face. Those really don't look close to 15-20' to me. Look again and imagine someone standing tall, instead of being in a low athletic stance. I'd be comfortable calling them 10 footers. And I grew up surfing in Maine, so, yeah, there is that. Most Hawaiians I know would call it 6'. The guys with small feet would call it 5'.
