    Infected Bursa on knee

So i got 10 stitches last Saturday, surfing on the Glenwood wave. Thruster fin cut through my wetsuit into my knee. I went to look at it and clearly needed stitches.
Went to emergency care clinic and they irrigated and stitched it up.

6 days later i wake up and my knee is super swollen, and hot. No streaking and no puss. I goto my primary and he said whoever stitched me up should have put a drain in since i punctured the bursa. That flued needed to go away.

So they cut me back open, drained it and put this drain in.

Anyway, anything else i can do for this? Or just let the Cephalxin kill the germs and keep it clean?

    Thanks

Got access to a LBG or light beam generator?

Probably not but at least you will look it up.

Stay off it, rest and let the meds do their thing.

I think you should rail Rim Trail and Airline with me, early in the morning?

Did you have it washed out in the ER or the OR? What grew on cultures? Would consider broadening your antibiotic coverage and using IV meds rather than by mouth. Cephalexin will cover the most common bacteria on skin, but your cut happened in water and through a wetsuit. It may not be the stereotypical skin infection. Would discuss this with your surgeon and incorporate an infectious disease specialist.

    Best of luck.

Infections due to cuts in the ocean can be nasty. Keep a close eye on it.
