Eastern LI Surfers/ Surf Shops or boards for sale...?
I just moved out to East Hampton and want to improve my surfing ability (i've only been a handfull of times)....anyone surf out on the eastern part of Strong Island? Also, i'm looking to buy a funboard shape board at a decent price. I know a bunch of the shops i was in were kinda pricy. Anyone have any boards they want to sell or know of any good shops? Thanks guys...

Hit up Ditch Plains in Montauk.
I'm sure after sufing there a bunch of times, you'll meet some locals.
Only thing is I believe most people longboard out there.
I think there's a message board on www.newyorksurf.com that you might want to look into.Last edited by snoogens; 03-31-2005 at 05:56 AM.

If your just learning I would recomend you get a long board & not a fun shape! A long board is easier to catch waves and works on small days that are so commen out there in the summer months. There are plenty of boards on EBay look for something in the 9'0" range. Good Luck!

Thanks for all the advice guys.....i heard about a possible surf swap at Main Beach shop in May where i could pick up a used board for cheap....so i'm looking into that, and yeah i guess i should go a little longer, maybe into the 8 foot range.....
