Surfing in Flaaaarida.
So I have a chance to take a trip to Key Biscayne in October while the wife is at a conference.
I grew up surfing and windsurfing small waves on the gulf side in the summers, but know nothing of the Miami area. Is there any decent surf in that area, within an hour or two drive that's worth a shit? Otherwise I guess I could look into SUP or something.
Just trying to figure out if I should even bother going, or go on a climbing trip with the guys instead.

When?
Pretty much flat during summers (Bahamas are in the way) , but winter north swells can reach as far as South Beach. I'm pretty sure Biscayne is protected by barrier reefs, but some of those might break on occasion. The further north you go, generally the bigger it will get.

October.
But yeah, looks like it's pretty well protected. Might be more of a SUP or windsurf kinda trip. Could take a drive up north one day.

Deerfield Beach pier breaks OK. Really touristy, so not much attitude.
Jupiter or north is where the waves get a bit bigger.

Biscane is nice for Kitesurfing though.
