TR: Last Four Seasons - 20+ areas

It’s been a long time since I last posted photos on here. But, I thought I’d highlight the last four seasons. Most photos are in chronological order, though some of the EC photos are mixed together. Nothing here as cool as Jtrue or Klar’s recent posts (or Katahdin), but I think it’s a fun mix of places/terrain covered. This TR covers 8 countries and the following skiing areas: Monashee, Mt Peter, Squaw, Willard, Gore, MRG, Crystal, Alpental, Garmisch, St Anton/Zurs, Arabba/Marmolada, Cortina, Magic, Verbier, Val d’Isere, Tignes, Hickory, Silverton, Kendall Mt, Durango Mountain Resort, Malbun, Diavolezza/Lagalb, Corviglia and Corvatsch. Also skied during this time, but not photographed here are: the other Sella Ronda areas, Lech, Summit West, Killington, Bromley, West Mountain and Stratton.

Let’s start with Monashee in 2011.

There’s a skier in there – to the left of center:

Tuxedo Park, NY! There are a couple of ski areas on the other side of that ridge.

And Mt. Peter is one of them! Just one hour from NYC. Here, my friend is overwhelmed by the sheer size of the place.

    The outrage!

    This guy certainly loves France.

    Vast vast terrain here.

    Squaw Valley March 2011

Where’s Shaina? She’s in there somewhere

    End of 2011

    Skiing Willard in sub-freezing temps!

    2012

    High Peaks from Gore

    Alpental continued…

    Elevator Shaft

    Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Zugspitze

St. Anton - North side Valluga

    Schindlerkar

Dolomites – went here with dreams of skiing Holzer, Joel and Staunies, but instead experienced a terrible terrible season. Wish we had switched our plans, but the beauty of the place made up for it.

    Arabba

    Me on Marmolada

A bit low tide in Cortina:

    Verbier, 2013
    North Face Mont Fort

    Banana Couloir

    Vallon d’Aribi

    Val d’Isere

    Couloir de la table

    Pisteurs

My guide with me entering the couloir:

    P3 in Tignes

    Chardonnet

    Vallon de la Sache

    Next day at Tignes:

Our tracks from the previous two photos

    Couloir de la Grande Balme

Looking back up – the couloir de la grande balme comes off the right facing slope of the peak on the left in this photo:

And good old Magic Mountain from March 2013:

And again at Magic in early 2014:

    Silverton:

    Night powder at Kendall Mountain:

    Durango Mountain Resort:

    Hickory Ski Center

    Malbun Liechtenstein:

We were lucky with our timing for our return to the Dolomites. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it over to Cortina, but we were able to hit up many of the good couloirs off Pordoi. Here is Joel:

    Canale Sass de Forcia:

    Holzer:

    Heading to Marmolada:

It snowed a lot in the Dolomites this year.

I’m that dot on the steeper face

I was bummed we didn’t make it over to Cortina again, but the Staunies chair was closed and there was so much good stuff over near Arabba. Next time.

Lastly, the Engadin. I think all four ski areas and the terrain they access are outstanding.

Diavolezza – I skied that great chute on the left. Lots more potential here:

    Lagalb:

    Corviglia:

    Val Bever:

    North Face of Corvatsch:

Closing out with spring bumps at Gore:

The best part about all this stoke is that you have pictures from Gore, Hickory and Willard! Are you an upstater originally? Hickory had an awesome season this year!

Nice to see a flashback of spring 2011", that Squaw pic is probably a 650" base at that point.

Congratulations! You found Elevator Bowl - you are a master of the padded seats!

But for srs, that's a nice shot. Sums up the area perfectly.

    Wondering what happened to you.

Great pics. How many days a year are you logging on the hill? Ballpark it, who really counts?

Not all that many actually - maybe 30.

RE: Svetlana, etc...times are a changing and we're getting older. Much harder to rally the gang for ski trips with babies and all that stuff.
