    RIP Hobie Alter

I'm not finding much news on this, but via Facebook I read that Hobie Alter, surf pioneer and developer of Hobie Cats, has passed on. The guy was an icon.

^That's a great pic. First windsurfer?

He was/is a legend indeed... had a Hobie 16 for many years and loved it.

Sad news, but what a legacy. RIP Hobie

RIP, Hobie. Sailed a Hobie 16 for about 10 years. Man, what a blast! Thanks for the great times.

    Damn.

Spent many a summer on my 16. My intro to the trapeze... and flipping was NOT fun when you were 14 and weighed 135 pounds - had to be assisted more than once. Good times.

    RIP Hobie

Yes, but did you suffer the indignity of Dad affixing not one, but 3 fucking milk jugs to the top of the mast after he got tired of assisting? My steez knew no limits. Chicks dig that shit.

Guy was a legend. I had the original sail number 2016 and spent a large portion of my youth on that thing.
