    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

No I70 bitching here, but a question. What's faster from Copper to Snowmass Village - I70 to Glenwood Springs then 82, or Indy Pass?

Snowmass is probably close. Town's about 15-20 minutes faster over Indy.

That's what I was thinking based on experience...guess it depends on whether you get stuck behind some slow shithead between Twin Lakes and Aspen.

If Clear Creek were smart, which we aren't, we would be doing everything we possibly could to get permits from the USFS up Guanella and trying to sell the idea to Vail Resorts etc. There is access from 285 and 70, you avoid GT hill, tunnels, and EB tunnel approach, terrain is fucking unlimited, you have a town and county thirsty as fuck for development. It will never happen.

Obviously there's Geneva Basin, but thought there was lots of Wilderness up there? Always wanted to mess around there with a sled, but have heard there's not much you can go on?

I70 might be faster Copper to SMV but Indy Pass is a far more enjoyable drive. Several passing opportunities on 82 between Twin Lakes and the Pass. No construction, fewer Staties, and you don't have to deal with truckers. If the Pass is open, that's the way I'm going.

brings many crazy expensive cars through leadvil . never wil forget the robin egg blue covertable bentley at kum n go with one occupant testing and sizing up skull lighters and other junk novelty pieces while in line to check out. the hubby stood in opened car door while wife shopped for junk trinkets. such a wierd experience for me in bum clothing and finances getting my daily 44oz unsweet tea . you can learn something in that line
today im at 9600 instead of 10.200 and there are things i miss and things that i do not

Love the idea. Thin and wind scoured up there for 95% of the season. Would be fun mellow groomers though.

I read this as building a road-way alternative to get to Breck. Sure, develop some gas stations along the way, you'll get some tax dollars.

Everything on the west side is just national forest, on the east side the wilderness starts more than halfway up the valley.

That's the idea. People don't go there for the quality of the snow.

$30? That is the most expensive toll in the country, per mile and single usage, by a wide margin. Next closest I could find was $18 for the Chesapeake Bay bridge, or $.59 per mile for some Orange county highway.

    People will pay it though.
