Hell Yah!
Just locked in a day of Steelheading in April in Stanley! Gonna be a quick trip with lots of driving, but I am so psyched. I know I should have longer, but this is what I can fit in. Got a guide cause the time is so short.
FUCK YAH! FUCK YAH! FUCK YAH!

First weekend in April. Guide that my wife used on press trip a couple years ago. We are going to be wading, not floating.
Also, just got back from catching 3 fish on an hour lunch. It's a good day.

Not catching your meaning snapt. Season is april through may for Steelies on this section of the salmon if that is what you are asking.

Do the wild fish a favor and bonk some of those hatchery rats that are choking them out! Breaking in the Method?

Slightly off-topic but have you guys seen the preliminary forecasts for salmon in the Columbia watershed? Supposedly the biggest returns in 75 years. Don't know if it applies to the whole coast but this might be the year to get after it and cross that chinook off the to-do list.

Well, Fuck. The steelies aren't there yet. The guide I was going to go with has his permit in section 1 and he went out yesterday with a buddy and didn't catch anything. The water is super low and clear, and the few fish that are there are laying deep and not hitting anything.
Guess it will be a weekend of Skiing and hanging with the fam in a different local. It looks like I would have to make at least another 2 hr drive to find some steelhead.

Seems alright to me. One of the better sections actually. All I know is that I don't know nothin'... and that's fine.

Not sure which section in there corresponds to the river south of Stanley. But I tend to trust a guy that's been guiding there for years and is giving up a day of income when he tells me it isn't happening. I also checked with the local shop and got the same story, min 2 hr drive to get to the goods. (steelhead or trout right now, since the Big Wood closed on the 31st).

Snap T(just cause we all got called out on it...)
I was going to fish the section up stream of Stanley, waiting for the fish to come up stream.
