    The Deep South TR

Update further down pictures from the past two seasons
and the two year video project trailer for Frozen Empire. I mean if sherpa films and MSP can do that, Plague films can do that as well
music to use for this TR

edit: new Trailer, old one below the new:
    original and Vimeo
    The Trailer:

Well, I know the TR is dead. It's all about Gopro edits these days. Since I have uploaded my fair share of gaper-amateur ski porn in my trailer in the Euros thread a few weeks ago ( http://www.plaguefilms.com/frozen/Frozentrailer.mp4 ) and I've always loved Ghouls, Zombies and all kinds of undead creatures: Here's to the TR and the TGR Boards of old.

You all heard the news: "The southern Alps drown in snow" ... "Wepowder recommends to go to YOUR favourite secret spot!" and yes it has been kind of deep. And while we haven't been to eastern Italy or Slovenia where they have a 6m base at 1800m (yeah that's 20 lower extremeties of snow), we still managed to ski on a solid 2,5-3m base in our neck of the woods. We've been down south a lot the past few weeks. We have not met a lot of fat people there and have not been threatened by rednecks with shotguns, but were given the stink eye by a UIAGM mountainguide who was scared we'd post his home spot on the internet. Yes, apparently it has come this far.

Sometimes we manged to get above the glop line, sometimes we didn't, but we skied deep snow each time. Sometimes we hit the jackpot with a deep powdery base and blower on top. Sometimes we watched in amazement what people drop into these days in lift served terrain on the first day after a snowfall. And most times we went touring because we do not have the balls to drop into the stuff that people try to die in on the first blue bird day after a big snowfall. Blame it on fat skis. I still remember the golden age of free skiing when fat skis had been widely available for only a short time, helmets were teh radical and gapers did not wear ABS packs.

Mostly we skied greybird days somewhere in a forest where we had to lay the skin track anew each week. Knee deep track laying has become the norm in the southern alps. And believe me It's not as much fun as it sounds The first time it's still amazing to see the ammounts of snow and wallow upwards, but then it turns to sheer agony.

Still, the reward is worth it every time.

grey silenence. The theme for the past few weeks.

But sometimes you step out into the light and taking pictures suddenly makes sense again.

Even if it is just another worthless scenic shot

You can see where you're headed...

    and launch off a pillow.

    Or shred over it.

In the next zone you might find a spinish feature flanked by trees...

    which you ride...

until it becomes even steeper and ends in a drop where you huck into your sluff.

And here we are in the middle of the season. I have shaved my snowbeard and voila for the first time in weeks the forecast does not look very promising for the weekend. Let's see where this leads. The beard is growing again and I won't repeat this mistake until may.

Here are a few pictures of the last two Seasons since the season is basically done here I thought I'd share. This is only possible because i kind of fell on my shoulder in the bike park yesterday and thought i take it easy today.
I found some surprisingly sweet photos I didn't know were there and thought i would share
So you have seen the ones from this season further upthread? Here are a few more.
I'll post the second Trailer for "Frozen Empire" as soon as i've uploaded it.

One of the few days in the northern Alps sometime in November

This season, three weeks ago...NOT in AK but in Ticino...

The South had an awesome season and we've skied there about 30 days....Mostly in the trees, but sometimes we were rewarded with this

This is the usual story...deep snow somewhere in the trees. Two weeks ago.

And now the reason for the two season TR pictures from last year...

La Grave Last year. Season opening with good snow.

    Good coverage..creates nice pillows

Same Trip on the way back in Cormayeur

Dawn in AK Waking up like this is not half bad.

My wife contemplating what to shred next

    Waiting for more AK goodness.

My wife is fairly stoked during our Honeymoon Trip to AK

Are you up for Another Round?

    Sure she is.....My wife shredding

    I want one of those...

USA USA USA!! Returning home, stoked.
