chicken or egg?
i've always been under the impression that the egg came first. I thought I read this somewhere (but can't find anything that actually says otherwise). One of my breakfast partners, who was complaining about runny eggs, thinks the chicken came first because, he says, an egg couldn't exist unless there were a chicken to lay it. I suggested that maybe his runny eggs were coming from a lousy cook, he got defensive about it, busted out the menu and said he couldn't find anything about whether the chicken or the egg came first …..
so now i'm here asking the tgr collective: which came first? chicken or egg?
thanks

You must be trolling, but I will play.
It is a rhetorical question... How did dinosaurs produce young? What came first Dinosaurs or Chickens? There you have the Egg before the Chicken. Chuck Norris allowed two to live and the rest is history."Why do I always get more kisses on powder days?" -my wife

If you can stick a fork in your scrambled and pick up a giant chunk, they are WAY overdone. Fact.

Simple biology. One cell had to come before two therefore the egg came first in some form or other. What laid the egg and what came out are another story.

Has anyone here ever eaten balut?
"Balut are duck eggs that have been incubated until the fetus is all feathery and beaky, and then boiled alive. The bones give the eggs a uniquely crunchy texture. The egg, served with a little salt after being boiled. It is commonly sold as streetfood in the Philippines. They are common, everyday food in countries in Southeast Asia, such as Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.Balut is eaten in the shell. It's often served with beer. "

I work with this Filipina girl who insists that they're "really delicious" and has promised (threatened?) to bring me one. I'm not sure if I can go through with it...

I'll guess that eggs were the consequence of metazoans becoming increasingly complex, the evolution towards sexual reproduction (in some beasts) and an increasing competition for limited resources. I'll further venture that insects evolved egg laying capacity before avians/reptilians, so, in that respect, eggs existed before chickens.
Edit- I once dated a Filipina MILF who thought that boiled-chick-in-the-egg shit was gross.Your dog just ate an avocado!
