    Phone Trick

Jong me if this is common knowledge

Phone battery life sucks in cold weather. Even in a inside pocket.

This weekend I had an idea to slide my phone inside my cuff/sleeve under my base layer and right against the skin. Just Velcro the wrist wrap to make sure it can't fall out.

You can hardly tell it's there. Access is easy when needed. Warm and charged all day.

I keep mine on vibrate, and its always at a constant 98.6 degrees. I hardly notice its there either.

I turn mine off and leave it in the car. I came to ski, not get interrupted.

Anyway, a lot of the places I ski don't have coverage, or it's very spotty. Constant searching for a signal will quickly drain the battery.

Bingo. Additionally, turn off Wi-Fi. Searching for that is another great way to kill your battery.

Wow, and I just keep mine in the front pocket of my bibs - stays plenty warm enough and get about 8 hours of life with location services on

i always bring mine since its probably as useful a tool in emergencies as you can get. plus on the uphill it's usually playing music. i do pay attention to the battery though and put it i airplane mode if service is spotty. once the battery is dead its usefulness in emergencies is limited to being a suppository.
