    flake that makes the best powder? - gettin ink done (tattoo) related

    so i'm gonna be 27 in a few weeks. it's an important year for me (for various reasons) and i want to mark it.

    i've been playing with the idea of getting a snowflake tattoo for a few years and i'm pretty sure this is the time. i'm between doing a styled graphic flake made of circles that when viewed as a whole would look like a snowflake or (and this is where i need the help) a flake that represents perfect blower pow. would probably do this one in a technical illustration style, make it almost scientific looking. both will be black ink only.

    so here is a snowflake classification chart. which flake makes for the perfect pow?

    i assume it's p1f, p1g, p1h, p1i or p3a. but is one better than any other? feel free to throw your input on this, be it a matter of visual opinion or an actual "this flake makes the best pow."

    i'll be sure post pics of the final graphic options and of course of the final ink pushed in skin outcome.

    thanks for the help - bc-flizzle

    I have no idea, but beware the tendency of heavy-lined flakes to look like the red hot chili peppers logo.

    You know who's going to do it?

    A more important consideration, BC, is where you're planning to put this tatoo.

    I think you should get CP1a and C1b doing the nasty.

    Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but due to a tendency for stellar crystals to grab onto eachother (and thus be slightly cohesive) the best "blower" pow is usually a mixture of n1a, p1a, and c1a-b.

    If you decide on N1a, N1b, or N2, I can save you a ton of $ on the tattoo and do it for you.

    thanks for all the help... jerks. at this rate maybe i'll just opt. for someone to write balls on my forehead and call it a day.

    i'm all graphic design core no matter what i get done it's gotta be good nuf to pass my test. i'll post the two options when i get em dialed in.

    location - inner left forearm or centered in the back of my neck just below collar line. probably about 2x2 - 3x3 inches or so.

    where/who is doing it - not sure yet. optics (or any other seattle mags) do you know anybody in seattle that does good work?

    With all due respect, BCFlow, I always thought that a snowflake tattoo is up there with dolphin tatts and cats eyes on your lower back.

    May I suggest the Skiing Hui

    KQ - sorry, you helped and i appreciate it.

    Pu - yeah i know flakes are a little gay (esp on guys) but if it's done right it will be really good.

    big blue - crap! oh well i guess i won't be technically correct in flake shape being in line with good pow. it's gotta look good though so i'll probably opt for a handsome aka pretty flake shape.

    Um... did you look at N1a, N1b, or N2?

    [obvious] It was a joke. [/obvious]

    OTOH, if your graphic design tastes run to the "sketchy", I can gouge any of those flakes into you with a broken ski pole (for authenticity).

    Hey BC:

    Instead of the flake ink, how about the ever trendy asian character route...

    Chinese:
    白茫茫 bai mangmang (pronounced bye mongmong) Meaning vast field of whiteness, a more poetic way of saying it.
    飞雪 feixue (pronounced fey shway) Meaning flying snow. Like as in face shots...mmmmmm.
    软雪 Ruan xue (pronounced roo-on shway) Meaning soft snow. The usual way that you hear it spoken when talking of snow in China.

    Japanese:
    kona Yuki

    kona = powder a substance
    Yuki = Snow

    I hope this kanji shows up
    粉 = kona
    雪 = yuki

    粉雪 =kona yuki

    (From http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=21762)

    I think you'd be much better with a little bai mangmang or kona yuki on your ass than a stellar crystal.

    ^^ yeah it's a nice flake and it's also the powder mag logo, or was... sorry, but i'm not putting something on me that i didn't create myself.

    EC - guess i didn't look at the chart. ooops. i'm taking this pretty serious as it is my body that will carry this image. so long as i'm alive i want to be happy with it.

    serves me right to make a serious requst of the collective board the day after st. patties. who out there isn't off their ass wasted right now?
