I don't think they've changed it at all since last year. I was up there this weekend and my phone connected automatically. didn't have to put in a passcode at all. So either the passcode was the same as last april, or they opened up the network.

I had a great time at Mammoth this weekend. Great snow all over the top. Hopefully some of the rest of you guys got some.

This snow at least allows a big percentage of the mountain to be skied. It will (sort of) salvage the season.

The top skied great, low down less so. Hangman's was even open, but by Tuesday was pretty well shot with a bunch of rocks in the choke. I doubt patrol will leave it open much longer.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

I meant to ski the avy chutes, but did not get there.

The top of Hangman's was nice, but it was much rockier in the throat than I anticipated. I won't go back until there is more snow.

So Monday's over...anyone getting the itch to tell whatever job they have to get fucked and head up Thursday night?

Looks like act 1 will be Wednesday night with 2 coming Friday day which is shaping up to be arc-building weather in LA that I have no bid to see our normally shitty drivers attempt to navigate with bald tires and joie de vivre...

Did some poking around on the Crest the last couple days and found some soft edge-able snow up high and super soft winter snow down low in the trees. Coverage was good all the way down to Horseshoe, and the weather was FKNA brilliant

    Check it...

Jaws looking like it might be fun

Hollywood looked OK but the runout was pretty boulderish

    Soft turns were found

Finally dumped in Mammoth Ullr be praised!!!!!!! I am hoping to see some stoke from the maggots. I have to work this weekend but I am thinking of rolling in next Thursday for the weekend. I know the pow will be done by then, but maybe I can cruise over to June and see if there are any scrapes left for us working fools. A mid week update would be appreciated. And can we keep this on page 1 for a few days now. Post up the stoke!!!!!

Bottom Line: The avalanche danger is HIGH this morning in the backcountry around June Mountain, the Mammoth Lakes Basin and Rock Creek.

Over the past 24 hours, close to 2 feet of snow and 2 inches of water has fallen at the 9,000 ft elevations on June Mountain, Mammoth Mountain and in Rock Creek. More snow has fallen above 9,500 ft and strong southerly and southwesterly winds have transported more snow onto exposed leeward east through north facing slopes. I expect natural avalanches have occurred and continue to occur in steep, upper elevation terrain where loading rates were the highest. Human triggered avalanches are very likely today.

Today, very dangerous avalanche conditions exist on windloaded slopes steeper than 30 degrees. On non-wind affected slopes, which are few and far between, natural avalanches are possible and human triggered slides are likely.

    Be careful out there.

Pretty great day today. Was a well attended pow day but didn't devolve into a total shit show.

Caught rope drops first at the opening of 5 and then 9. It was DEEP most everywhere, pole length + as I discovered after eating shit a few times. Caught top opening later on but by that time was running on fumes.

Anyone scoped the Crest since the last round of storms? Are the talus sharks officially underwater?

... this may be of interest to some here.
I recently added the California Cooperative Snow Survey stations to my system

    http://cires.colorado.edu/~aslater/SNOW/california.html

so (unfortunately) you can see where your snowpack is at for various locations - click the dots on the map you'll see in that link e.g. see included image.

Mammoth was fun today. Started out really windy and low visibility, but by 1pm the sun started to peak through and the wind died down. The wind puff all around 5 was the best I have had this season (I know, I have had a pathetic year). I left at 3pm and found out that is when they opened the top Lucky, there is always tomorrow.

    Windbuff was good indeed.

Skied Punta on Friday - great snow on the top half, bottom was breakable crust.

    Hey all -

Mammoth Mini is happening this year, and consensus is late April/early May so May 2-4 it is.

Pass it on, looking forward to seeing lots of you.
