Can we Start some 2014-15 gear rumors yet

Figure now has started this yet and we have either fondled or skied this years stuff all ready so whats coming up for next year. Only thing I have heard is Atomic will be changing some of the skis in there line up like a Automatic line of skis.
If ski companies didn't make new skis every year I wouldn't have to get new skis every year.

4FRNT introducing a new Hjorliefson designed touring ski "Raven", supposed to be lighter weight but no info on dimensions/weight, supposedly no carbon. Hoping it's a lighter Hoji.

On Skipass.com there's already a 2015 gear thread, there were some Atomic 2015 skis pictures but there were deleted. We could see the new Benchetler on it, slightly thinner, an Automatic line of 3 skis with different width (the actual Automatic was the widest) like R2/Quest and other skis I forgot. The topsheets were less "drawing" style and more like pictures (I remember of a sunset on the Automatic 117). I hope you understand my bad english.

Any sign of an avilung/airbag yet? There has been discussion in other threads. Can't believe this is not on the market yet.

Avilung - for when tree wells are the biggest danger
Airbag - for when avalanche is the biggest danger

Both - Because it just makes sense.

    Just my $.02

could be interesting! from what i've heard, black diamond controls the patent for the avalung and is isn't super receptive about letting other companies use it. now that BD has an airbag, a combo pack is more of a possibility

unfortunately that's indefinitely held up thanks to trademark litigation with Jon Olsson.

Buy a standalone avalung. Cut off straps. Zip tie to backpack shoulder strap. Boom problem solved. Have buddies who do exactly this.
Since I am constantly switching from a free ride airbag pack to a big heavy camera bag minus an airbag I keep the avalung standalone.

Heard that Scott will have an exclusive line of airbags made by the company that's big in the self-inflating nautical/aviation life jackets. Cylinders will be low cost replaceable & not refillable. Apparently will be a lot less hassle to fly with etc.

^^^ i just picked up one of the new Scott RAS bags (seems pretty nice; trick ski carry system).
it uses the same Removable Airbag System as Mammut.

My somewhat cursory research indicated that the non-refillable cylinders are Euro only because they are filled to a pressure that exceeds US limits.

Mine came with a refillable cylinder (although the bags fit both refillable and non-refillable cylinders).

... and it looked like a carbon fiber cylinder will be available.

edit: and i am definitely picking up one of the Vacuum helmets; finally i can size down my helmet w/o needing excessive punches to achive that "race" fit.

Inflatable fishing vests are filled by CO2 cartridges. Why can't airbags be?

If the bag fails to keep you above the surface, you are now buried with 150 gallons of CO2 gas...those air bags are not perfectly air tight.

For Spring 2014, PM Gear will be offering a custom factory stickered topsheet* ski called the Bro-brah.

Currently testing various stickers for durability.

    * I'm am a bit worried that this may just be a ploy to pass off the blems, but we'll see.

Will be the year of tech bindings. I predict improved and different RV range Beast, Vipec as well as an offering from Marker. Got my eye on Salomon as well... Probably a recall a piece too.

I wonder what would fall apart first, the tech inserts or the tech bindings from salomon!

Salomon is not keen to rush into it that is for sure. My guess is that they are still a couple years out, but headed a slightly different direction.

Automatic line, and 3D Bentchetler as leaked a few weeks ago.

Rumor on more dedicated touring boot options from the bigger guys. Easier crossover between tech and traditional bindings.
