I bet jewel has been good the last month. No snow down low with solid base on glacier ice. I started snowmaking this week on top of chair lift construction. 7am to midnight workdays = me tired. 6 will done this week though, then it can snow.

Hatcher skied fairly nice at summit lake today. Would have been better if I could see.

Grabbed a couple of photos on the way home

Independence mine snotel saying "30 since yesterday afternoon. Can anyone verify?

Not much sticking on the hillside, a lot of moisture but its coming in sideways and the rain/snow line is currently at about 3000'.

Heard from a friend that he got turned around at the first hairpin turn by a ranger. The ranger said they've received about two to four feet.

    I appreciate the multiple edits.

Recent story of those who wandered into areas without adequate knowledge and made bad decisions: http://www.adn.com/2013/11/11/317089...hikers-by.html

TLDR: Two women tried to hike to Mint Hut Sat., couldn't find it, unprepared for winter weather, rescued by helicopter early Mon AM, in stable condition.

Today at Hatch: Had to go steep because it was deep! Some scary whoomphing, but only saw minor sluff releases.

We encountered whomping on two different aspects and decided not to press our luck. A group we ran into turned back from April Bowl after watching a crack propagate when they were ascending from the pass.

yeah snowpack on saturday was sketchballs but only 6 inches deep, I assume today and yesterday were ok. In the mean time I wish it didn't get dark at freaking 4:30 so I could ski after work. Its ok I'll get the 10 inches that fell on the pennisula another day to settle.

    Pussy...

I'm pretty sure they make to 20 now... no need for extra weights. Just gotta find a nice 40 foot hump at low slack.

Lings shouldn't be a problem either... My boat however is a lake kayak...

This is why I don't fish out of Seward...

I haven't fished for halibut in more than 100 feet in decades

Turkey red has the best pizza in the valley. Don't let the hippies scare you off.
