And no one has yet to realize that this guy lives in Albuquerque, has never skied a day in his life, has a ton of money he needs laundered, and that he is filtering his own money back to himself?

Well, they way I see it, some kid is probably manufacturing meth and is making boatloads of money. He hits the thrift stores, picks up items and lists them on ebay. He sets up sham paypal accounts and pays himself large sums of money for worthless items. He takes a home office deduction, fudges his overhead and reduces his taxable income with the help of his lawyer, Saul.

Just sent this message to the seller of this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...E:B:SS:US:1123
Hi, just a heads up, this equipment is approximately 25 years old and is almost worthless. Everybody shopping on ebay knows this. They are "straight skis" and "rear entry boots". Please google "what are straight skis worth". Generic 10 year old shaped skis are worth about 5-10% of itheir original price. This setup may have been sold for $400 in 1989, but ski equipment is not an investment and does not hold its value.
The boots and skis would not be used for modern skiing - only as a decoration, part of a costume or for a project such as a "shot ski". There is a bunch of old equipment out there like this available for free from various sources, or for $5 at a local yard sale. The poles are pretty cool and still useable, they might be worth $10-$30 plus shipping to the right buyer.
Sorry for the bad news, good luck with your auction.

The important thing would be showing large costs for the items, allowing you to reduce your income down to low taxable amounts, yet explain large amounts of cash flow. Most people laundering money are not willing to pay real income tax amounts. Therefore they create fake expenses that hit a cash wall (non electronic) and become untraceable.
One of the more ingenious laundering setups I've seen was a kid who ran a "poster selling business" going to Phish shows to sell his wares. He would then expense the costs of going to the shows, write phony bill of sales for buying and selling the "posters" and the only record was the bill of sales, and any cash deposits or withdrawals from his bank accounts.
