    THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
    WARNING FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 3500 FEET FOR HEAVY SNOW...WHICH IS
    IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM PDT THIS AFTERNOON.

    * HAZARD TYPE...HEAVY SNOW.

    * SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...HURRICANE RIDGE...MOUNT BAKER SKI
    AREA... STEVENS PASS...PARADISE...WHITE PASS.

    * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...4 INCHES AT STEVENS PASS...WHITE PASS...
    AND HURRICANE RIDGE. 4-8 INCHES AT MOUNT BAKER SKI AREA AND
    PARADISE.

    * TIMING...SNOW SHOWERS WILL OCCUR TODAY THEN TAPER THIS EVENING.

    * IMPACTS...THIS IS THE FIRST EVENT OF THE SEASON THAT WILL BRING
    SNOW TO ELEVATIONS AS LOW AS STEVENS PASS. THE CRITERIA FOR
    WINTER STORMS IN THE MOUNTAINS IS LOWER FOR THE FIRST EVENT OF
    THE SEASON...4 INCHES. AT THIS TIME IT APPEARS THAT SNOQUALMIE
    PASS WILL REMAIN BELOW THE SNOW LEVEL TODAY AND JUST GET RAIN.

    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

    BE PREPARED FOR WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS IF YOU ARE PLANNING A
    TRIP TO THE MOUNTAINS ABOVE 3500 FEET.

    I know those guys, it's about 8 miles to get to the skiable snow on Spider Glacier where they went, so about 16 miles of walking.
