The alpine held good corn this past weekend, and was a welcome break from the Puget fog

You have to love Jim Foreman, he is always out there at the front line of massive weather events. Its amazing how many years he's been at it.

Any of you folks fortunate enough to live at the pass able to report on conditions? NWAC has been down since 3 and I'm trying to figure out if there's enough snow to ski some grassy slopes nearby tomorrow. The weather models looked quite promising, but I'm having doubts since there hasn't been a drop of rain at my place all day (plenty of wind...)

Hit up Heliotrope area with the masses from all over the PNW. Good thing there is lots of space for everyone! The latest storm dropped about 3 feet on the area. Made for really good skiing. Smooth silky turns.

There must have been 50 people on the slope today. The mood was well awesome everyone was super excited on getting their first turns of the season in. This next system that is moving in should make for even better skiing as the sharkfins should be covered up by then.

It felt good to get out on the sticks but my feet and back from hiking with skis for 10km say otherwise.

4 or 5 inches of new snow on hard crust layer over frozen grass at unicorn meadows near Chinook Pass. Pretty damn good skiing for a snowpack under a foot.

Heliotrope is such a sick spot for early season turns, you should got there to get it while it's good.

I wish they plowed up to heliotrope till spring! The tree runs you could have off the main trail would be unreal. I always cry a little when then snow line gets deep below 3000ft cause I know it is over.

Late Feb/Early March is safest probability-wise, but it's the northwest and you can have big dumps, dry streaks, or rain anytime between November and May.

Hard to predict...and with all the usual disclaimers... December can be good cold pow but some plum road lines may still need a bit filling in. Sometimes (the last few years) in mid to late January and or early Feb we get a dreaded high pressure system that results in some frozen icy crud ( can last from 2 to 4 weeks) although you can usually find recycled pow in the BC on the right aspects. By late Feb its usually snowing again and March is pretty reliably snowy and powderish. Neutral year(neither El Nino or La Nina).....my recommendation would be March....but YMMV.

    Saturday was very nice.

    Nice meeting you (again) BeardedClam.

Sunday? Eh, it was still fun skiing, surfy schmoo on a supportive crust. Less fun on the down for my post holing pooch.

12-18" more will open up a whole lot of terrain.

My sentiments exactly after a short day of playing around Steven's this weekend. Hopefully the snowpack survives this week's early warmup and settles into a nice base for Old Man Winter to build on top of

We too ended up in our own area by our lonesome and out of sight and sound of the circus, but yes it was a shit show extreme one mountain away. Can't see how any of that area is remotely secret given the 10 4x4's, 4-5 snomos and 20-30?+ people in the area that day. Though it was fun watching the group of 10-12 pro ho skiers and boarders hucking their meat in early season conditions.

that northern boundary can be such a funny place. our centrally located thinking kept us in the fall line and away from the hoards.

mofro enjoyed our blissful luck in finding solitude.
