Yes you are correct. The snow pack was solid and right side up- but a thin layer of wind deposit sat on top of it. That 2 inch layer on top is what was moving. Somewhat dangerous, but not too bad.

Ahhhhhh so you guys were the ones that left the tracks up in the crater. Nice!

Short tour to top of Palmer to harvest spring-like turns. Beautiful day, chocolate-chip city, but hey, good corn turns in October:

Visibility was about as good as it gets:

Dave likes touring with old rental poles:

    Teh harvest:

ON3P is hosting Poor Boyz Productions "Tracing Skylines" and 4bi9 Media "All Damn Day" on October 29th at the Alberta Rose Theatre. Doors at 6:30pm.

We have ridiculous amounts of swag to give away and raffle off.

We'd be stoked to see all the mags there! Wearing a costume is encouraged.

$15 advance, $18 at the door. Buy your tickets in advance here:
    https://secure-public.ticketbiscuit..../Events/179605

Seriously, this can’t turn into yet another ON3P thread....

Doors 5:30. Raffle then film. Party at Crows Feet afterward.
Let me lock in the system at Warp 2
Push it on into systematic overdrive

Like the RV pic Tap, and also the modified one of Serp. Cheers to you, unfortunately don't think I'll make the show, unless I catch the 2nd half....previous commitment. Still sled shopping....keeping you in mind.

PSA: For those of the Bend crew who haven't purchased tix for Into The Mind...the ticketing system is down. When I talked to them at 3PM they expected to be up in "a couple of hours"...

They told me they had plenty and not to worry...

    See y'all Saturday

Update - on-line ticketing is still down, but they will sell you a ticket over the phone for will-call

I have no word, but the cam's show fairly sparse coverage. Obviously still a bit to go, but I do like the sound of this potential change to get us into a more favorable pattern:

    --
"Last night’s ECMWF monthly run. Some interesting changes from the previous two runs. Appears that upper-level high wants to be a little farther west, leaving some sort of troughing (cool) over us through mid-November. That says cooler than average temps for the first half of the month. If the trough is over or west of us, that’s also very wet."

Not much. Maybe an inch of fresh at W lodge at noon yesterday, w/ temp @ 20F. Skies were clear last night. Doubtful it will last with rising temps later this week.

I like the looks of Puma's forecast though

    Still looking favorable:

.LONG TERM...SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT...A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM
WILL PUSH THE NEXT FRONT THROUGH THE AREA EARLY SATURDAY
    MORNING...BRINGING WIDESPREAD RAIN...MOUNTAIN SNOW...AND BREEZY
CONDITIONS SATURDAY...WITH POSSIBLY HIGH WINDS FOR THE COAST. BEHIND
THE INITIAL COLD FRONT STRONG OROGRAPHIC WESTERLY FLOW WILL RESULT IN
PERSISTENT SHOWERS OVER THE CASCADES AS COLDER AIR MOVES IN AND
LOWERS THE SNOW LEVELS. ONSHORE FLOW WILL CONTINUE CASCADE SNOW
SUNDAY. ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL LIKELY IMPACT THE CASCADE PASSES THIS
WEEKEND. MODELS FORECAST ONE OR TWO MOIST SYSTEMS TO FOLLOW MONDAY
AND TUESDAY. DETAILS VARY GREATLY BETWEEN THE MODELS...BUT CAN
GENERALLY EXPECT RAIN...CASCADE SNOW AND COOLER THAN NORMAL
    TEMPERATURES EARLY NEXT WEEK.

Bend maggots - any recommendations for excellent ski techs? I need a pair of tech bindings mounted around existing inserts, and an alpine mount on a new pair.

Not something I feel good about doing on a breakfast nook in a rented condo, with only a paper jig and most of my tools in storage.

Got a few turns on the cone yesterday. Super stoked. It was pretty much raining but the coverage up top was way better than I expected.

Yeah, I heard the same thing about the cone.

Alport been killing it early season...they may be single slash shots, but they are the good shit. Still the season for chrome but snow time is almost here. Huzzah.

BTW, COAA is showing Sinners and The Fine Line on November 14th at 8 pm at Tin Pan Alley. Six bucks and 40 seats so be sure to grab one.
