Dumb fuckin Euro JONG questions - Summit/Eagle etc

So I've been suckered in to pulling the trigger on a Gapic Pass by the fact that I usually manage a couple of weeks over in Tahoe and the not insignificant Euro perks (easily come out ahead on just Verbier, St Anton and 3 Vallees alone). I'm now toying with the idea of swinging a couple of months sabbatical off work and doing Colo and Tahoe for 4-6 weeks each. I'm fairly familiar with Craigslist availability of short-term roomshares in Tahoe & worst case there is always cheap motels but no idea if anything short term is accessible in Colorado. Would prefer Eagle to get away from front range crowds, would likely have a car but I guess parking is a gouge at Vail. Any lowdown on whether this is an insane plan or any mags with couch capacity attracted to the idea of someone who won't be mooching around all winter?
