Have you been to Les Trois Vallées? Advice needed
Hello All,
I've done a few Euro ski trips before, mostly to Austria and Switzerland. This year I'm headed to Les Trois Vallées, and I could use some lodging advice because the place is ginormous. Does anyone have advice on where we should try to be located geographically? Will probably rent a chalet somewhere. Something ski in ski out would be great, as would access to the town. I'm not looking for something miles away.
Does anyone have any advice on which resort is best? We'll probably plan on 70/30 skiing/partying so access to social fun would be nice too.
Thanks,

For partying, you're going to want to be down in Courchevel with the prancing Pradas and ski through Chanel shoppes.
Les Menuires is a little more central, but your won't be able to dick swing in the discos like in Courchevel.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

I stayed in Brides last year, that sucked, lol. If I did it again I would try for something in the Meribel area.

I stayed 4 nights in Val Thorens back in 97. Got hammered off apfelkorn in the car and walked around this crazy underground mall. Skiing was top notch with a lot of snow as we arrived and bluebird for 3 days afterword. Huge place Trois Valles. I think a little more culture and style to be found lower down, Meribel is supposed to be good. Lots of Brits in the bars back then.

Mirabel Motteret @1750m. It's centrally located between Courchavel and Val Thorens. I'm not sure about the nightlife though 'cause I'm old and boring. And skied an insane amount of vertical every day I was there.

Courchevel is the party mile for sure (the 1850 village is called 'the snob' for a reason) but also has got some decent terrain high up. Val Thorens has the quickest access to most of the prime terrain there with the village being ok. Memories are fading but Meribel is centered but still with no really quick access to the best spots, remember it as somewhat boring. And Les Menuieres is as charming as a defect fridge, I'd stay away there.
Either Courchevel (the lower part) or Val Thorens is what I would likely opt for if going again.http://www.facebook.com/pages/www3li...ref=ts&fref=ts 3Limits Slovakia

I went back and checked, I was there over Christmas of '12, so 9 mos ago, here's a few pics.
Val T definitely has 360 degree terrain right out the door, town had more of a party atmosphere, but the old Olympic buidings are kinda beat.
Meribel was lower down the center valley, cleaner, more modern, with a more upmarket British family feel.
I didn't go to any of the Courcheval villages, so no comment.

Watch out for the Courcheval airport, lol

Is anyone on TGR a local in Les trois Vallees? I'm planning a trip in December. The trip will be a little unconventional so I'm going to need to try and enlist the help of a local or someone who works on the mountain. Also anyone who knows Brides les Baines really well would be helpful.
Thanks! PM me if you might be able to help.live the life.

I went to Val T back in 2006 and stayed in Courcheval 1750 in 2010. Val T is not a pretty town, but you can access some great and snow-sure terrain. Courcheval 1750 was an OK place to stay, but the partying was up at 1850. I didn't party all that much (boring sod that I am) but I do remember 1850 being eye-wateringly expensive....and full of Russians cougars The terrain in Courcheval was good, but I think on balance I prefered Val T.
