Stoked for the piste refresher for the family Northstar trip this weekend. There's a 40 foot storm on the way right???

It was good yesterday. Caught the Canyon chair opening and it was fine in the trees. Rocks and logs are still obvious, but mostly covered.
Mountain Safety Information Apparatchiks were telling people to stay out of the woods, but it wasn't roped off.
Sky chair didn't open. No idea what happened on the Nevada side.
Avy conditions still looking a little ripe out there. Anyone interested in Waterhouse Peak tomorrow?

As someone said, both.
Typically on a storm that hammers the whole lake they'll probably preach about how they got a lot more than they did. This storm however, being pretty sparse on some resorts and hitting others (presumably heavenly) hard I have a hard time believing they are lying by a lot. I know 2 seasons ago they reported 48 over night and kirkwood only reported 16". Went to heavenly on the off chance they were right, they were right and it was deep.

Lots of people at Alpine today. Summit had a line for most of the morning.
Snow was staying cold when we went at noon.
Fair amount of lower mtn snow making going on. Interestingly, they were blowing snow right by the bottom of Scott chair.

I think they were trying to cover the frozen puddles on the weasel runout. There's no way Scott opens. There's nothing open or skiable that wasn't before, but people had the fever and it was contagious--I hit more rocks today then all season put together, and I know where they are.

Today was fun at Kirkwood and there were only 100 people there. Ok, maybe more than 100, but no lines ever and upper boundaries set at edge of monte's and rabbits.

the snow at sugarbowl was pretty fast today with piles of fluff spread about. some better-than-normal bump lines are setting up off lincoln chair, mixed the glare ice and a few rocks on some of the troughs (the rain did a number). open terrain was pretty limited.

Chinese Downhill at Sierra today. Reminded me of Eagle Bowl rope drop at KW. No Carnage though. West Bowl was pretty good for a lap.

steep terrain at Alpine was limited, mind you, I didn't do the traverse that I saw a few people trudging over to on the other side of Alpine Bowl. No new openings which I expected.
Huge line at Summit 9 AM start, I managed to miss the first lap and got up there right when they opened it up below the chair and hiker's right bowl (not sure what it's called). Remember thinking, why isn't this tracked yet? Awesome fresh tracks under the chair for the first few laps until it was back to bare ice and rocks.
I got a little gopro footy i'll try to edit and upload soon.

I'm in love with the 12z GFS for Valentine's weekend. It could just be a tease like all the other V-days...

Nice stuff. How much did it snow up there?
Powdork, This is the one year I didn't buy a pass, so I'm going all bc this year. Got some freerides going on some carbon Kusalas, so we'll be making some turns when I join you soon.
