XO Type 2 derailleur not "clutching"

Just installed a brand new XO Type 2 short cage rear derailleur, and the clutch mechanism doesn't seem to work. I can get the gears to skip around when bunny hopping out on the street, and when in the stand, there is not much resistance when I push forward on the cage (feels like a non-clutch derailleur). What do I do? Is it defective?

Mine broke in the first ten rides.
Seems to be a common occurrance.
Went to XT, and haven't looked back.

i already explained this to rideit in a previous thread, but he can't seem to figure out how to use an allen wrench i guess...

pop the plastic cover off the clutch in the knuckle. you will see a big ass torx, but a 8mm allen will fit perfectly. tighten it a bit...and enjoy...

No, mine was warrantied by SRAM, as it was more than just the clutch. (The opposite was occurring, too much tension/no return) Seems to be a rash of breaking derailleurs.

Sweet, thanks! I'm pretty sure that worked. There's definitely more tension/resistance on the cage now. I'm going for a long-ass ride on Saturday, so we'll see how it works on the trail.
