Mavic vs Spank rims

I have some Spank Tweet 28 rims on the bike I bought. The combination with Shwalbe Big Betty tires sucks, not only are they damned near impossible to get off the rim if they go flat but they pinch flat all over the fucking place. I've gotten more flats with this combination that I had with my Mavic EX325 with Intense tires in 3 years. At first I thought I was running to low pressure so I pumped those fuckers hard. They really suck with high pressure, skittering all over the place and not sticking when I really need them. I'm thinking for my next ride I might steal the wheels off my old bike just so I can have some peace of mind.

So I'm wondering is it my tires that suck or the rims? One or both have to go, one would be cheaper than both cause I'm a broke motherfucker lately.

Spank rims kinda suck. They look pretty, but that's about their only redeeming quality. Big Betty tires also suck. They are the worst downhill tire I've ever ridden. Changing tires will make a bigger difference than changing rims.

I rode with my old rims and tires yesterday and didn't flat.

I just found some EX721 rims in my basement. I'm thinking I might lace them up, will they be better than the Spanks?
