Great thing about a month and a car is to go where it is snowing for sure. $1,000 is tight scratch.
Jackson tickets and Grand Targhee tickets can save a few dollars if you join the Idaho Falls Ski Club and drive through Idaho Falls on your way there.
Motel 6 in Jackson gives a good price break for a week and they do so most places they operate.
Huts in Canada will be difficult to get in, but worth a try with Alpine Club of Canada-especially if you are willing to tour a bit.
Hostels in Canada are good overall and can really save money both in lodging and in food costs.
Lodging, food, gas and lift tickets will be real tight on $1,000 for 30 days. Sell something and bring more money. 30 days to go skiing is a precious thing.

If you have a Subaru just steal gas, cops will never find ya. But seriously PM me me if your trip takes you to bridger/bigsky, i could have a place to crash

Repeat for a month. Post a TR.

I like you robgoose!
We did finally get a storm (aboot 90cms all told) and touring was sublime today however I don't see any big dumps in the next week. Keep an eye though if you're heading in a northern direction, you got a place to crash and if I can't guide you around I can find someone who can. A lot can happen in a month...“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Buy a flight to Zurich or Gevena and shack up in the Alps for a month. Great December followed by a yo-yo Jan has turned into a killer start to Feb. When the jet stream lines up just right and storm systems start smacking the northern flank of the Alps you KNOW you are in for some good fun. Engelberg, Andermatt, and anywhere in the Lower Valais getting lit up, or head to the Savoie/Haute Savoie in France or the Aosta Valley in Italy and enjoy.

I have a hard time believing you can pull that off for a grand but maybe you know something that most don't. Sounds like a great time though.
