Earlier than Further
How many hundreds (or thousands) of un -sponsored riders (think world-wide) self- propelled themselves up and down countless slopes and camped (without air support)
in rowdy and inhospitable storm holes glazed with blue ice and nourished on frozen butter do you think came and went before Jeremy Jones?
And how many didn't bring any camera gear 'cause the
weight penalty was too great and there were no extras to hump stuff. He is undoubtedly a stellar athlete, and a creative rider, but this gig is decades old.
Splitters in BC have been sweating their way deep into interior and coast ranges since the first generation of splits emerged. Not to mention 50 + years of astounding
feats of unsung ski traverses and descents that would give the average California pretender an aneurism. Sweet shots yeah, but pioneer .....meh.

I recommend you watch it again. Only this time, instead of looking for ways the video isn't good enough for you, look at the technicality of the lines they are getting after.
Doing risky stuff in the backcountry is just that: risky. The scale of what they are doing, and where they are doing it has never been done before, so stop your hating and enjoy the show.
Also, this dude Kyle Miller has recently been brought to my attention. He is a machine and is pushing splitboard mountaineering just as far as Jeremy Jones, but in a more traditional sense. Check him out: http://www.whereiskylemiller.com/

Well, I know the provo brothers went out to Bagley area after Jeremy and crew last spring, but besides that, pretty sure no one has snowboarded out there, at least not in the fashion they have. One thing to traverse a range, another thing entirely to get after technical lines out there. How often have you heard of people living in the middle of nowhere in Svalbard getting after it? Sure, people have snowboarded gnarlier lines before, but to do so in such a remote place? I'm not saying people haven't gone to remote places and snowboarded before, I'm also not saying people haven't ridden lines of such difficulty, but show me documentation of someone combining the two at the same scale that Jeremy and friends have.
Again - check out Kyle Miller's page for some more 'traditional' snowboard mountaineering stuff. He's made the Cascades his bitch, multiple times over.

Is this thread merely about snowboarders? If so, then carry on. If not, then there is a severe case of myopia going on.

Thanks for the kind words but the Cascades have made me there bitch on numerous occasions. Marco really pushed it years before anyone had ever heard of snowboard mountaineering. If I am correct Stephen Koch was doing the same. Jeremy is a real nice guy and it is cool to see him bringing it to the mainstream.
On that note stoked I went in my first heli ride a week ago and I am considering burning my skins

Technical for sure, not a hater, just observing ........helps too that his brothers Steve and Todd own TGR.....helps to
'Further' a career. I'm stoked that he is slayin' it with the board sales too.. brings the cost down on splits for the filthy unwashed masses.

So what? That is how life works, get over it. He is real good and things came into play for him perfectly. We all don't get to be that guy and that is ok too. Instead of cutting down someone else's success maybe you should look at how awesome your own life is and be thankful for what you do have, more of your own personal success will probably follow.

Wouldn't earlier than Further be Closer? Or maybe they're moving toward you so it's Even Farther?
I'm so confused.
