    PM Gear Kusala pow

Splat spilled a bit about a new model and I thought some might want to hear about it before they
bought something else and regretted not knowing about it.

Kusala loosely means "a state of contentedness flowing from skill". And it sounds good next to Lhasa .

First ones will be 186 with a width of 124mm. Subtle tip and tail rocker. High 20's/low 30's radius.
I think this could be a super cool ski, as I've tried and really liked limited rocker skis (Automatic/Renegade/Cochise)
but very much preferred the damped but poppy feel of the Lhasa's full width carbon/fiberglass blend.

Think he'll have few protos soon, I'll probably mount mine with demos if anyone wants to try at Kirkwood/Mammoth.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

otto, thanks for posting this... here are the dims
    Kusala
    Dimension:
    • Length: 186cm
    • Dim: 133.2 / 124 / 129.4 mm
    • Radius: approximately 30m
    • Pintail profile: 0.4°
    • Front rocker length: 460mm
    • Front rocker height: 23.7mm (including the front reverse camber)
    • Rear rocker length: 390mm
    • Rear rocker height: 13.1mm (including the rear reverse camber)
    • Front end height: 90mm
    • Rear end height: 30mm

I imagine Splat reserves the right to tweak these dims however he deems necessary..

He also shared there's gonna be a deep pow Lhasa blown out to 122mm...

    It's a praxis protest/fatter wootest.

Seriously. Look at the dimensions and the change from mid to tip and from mid to tail. Plus the rocker length and tip and tail heights.

    Should be a sick ski.

ottoparts is responsible for kicking me in the ass to get these done. Our former French intern from a few years ago, Pierre, who designed a lot of our skis, designed these. He's been engineering at a nuke plant in France by day and building carbon fiber skis at night. It's been a great collaboration project fueled and brought to fruition by people who love the thought of this kind of shape done in carbon for light skinning on a kill pow ski. ottoparts also contributed the name. Here's a shot of his pair...

While you're moving into production of that awesome design feel free to barely mess up a pair of carbon 191 LP's, thanks!

Any chance of basically a Lhasa with a wider tail or a bro fat with more sidecut?
I love the idea of toned down rocker/camber.
    No longer stuck.

    ^^^ some of the 191 lhasas had a 2mm wider tail than the 186 & 196.

121mm tail for the 191. (pretty sure anyway)

True that, I've got a pair of the fat lhasas. Still pretty pintailed but there's definitely enough tail to work with.

I'm guessing it's a short sidecut length, which accounts for the reasonable radius in spite of very straight dimensions.
