    PM Gear Kusala pow

Been running ATK Raiders on mine. Awesome having a light ski that can turn and burn. My first time on a pure carbon PM gear ski. Works as well as the hybrid in my opinion. For a mega fat, like this, I don't see a reason to go hybrid at all. The width sucks when its variable, so I'd rather be on another ski. The pure layup is plenty damp for soft chop. Mine are a 2x4 stiff flex, though.

Down for the count, also, with a sprained ankle. Hopefully be back by mid-April.

Figured I'd post here rather than the half a pair thread.

Anyone looking for one hybrid kusala? Have one with nice bases, few chips on the topsheet edge. Mounted once for Marker Jesters

Team Kusala: I got a pair of 186 Kusalas, used and drilled once, from the wife for my birthday.

    Three questions:
    1) They weigh 2150 gm a piece. Stiff hybrids?
    2) The rocker profile is much flatter than my old Renegades. Pretty matches my 186 EHPs, totally flat for the middle half of the skis, which I think is great. Anyone else have this rocker profile?
    3) How versatile will the ski be as a touring setup with Vipecs or Kingpins? Do I need something narrower for the Wasatch? I'm lusting for a pair of 184 Ravens anyway....

I find my Kusalas love 3D snow. Not so much in the firm. Mounted dynafit verts, but they are too wide, straight and flat for me on the firm pack. I use an older wailer 105 for those days.

Probably stiff hybrids. My extra stiff hybrids are 2300g and my extra stiff pures are 2000g. I think soft pures came in at 1800g.

I'd definitely grab a skinnier ski. The ravens would be a great compliment. I skied next years for a few days and thought they were awesome skis. You could definitely go more conventional too. The ZeroG 108 would be an idea.

JONG question - searched around and didn't find much. Just picked up a pair of 186s - How can I tell what layup the pair has? What is the visual and hand flex difference between hybrid & carbon? Thanks mags!

There isn't really. Its hard to tell even from weights unless you know how they're supposed to flex naturally.

Hybrid is 9-10 and pure is sub 9 usually. Layup is not really the test IMO cause he was known to monkey with stiffness. My Kusalhasa are 9.5 hybrid.
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Toying with the idea of trying to snag a pair of these. Is there any comparison to Lotus 120s?

Search, there was a thread on this a few years back.

Edit, sorry I was thinking of a Lhasa vs 120 thread.

They're different shapes and will ski differently.
