Mounted mine with Schizo demos, anybody on the Island wants to take em out they will be available..
And yes they are a thing of beauty.
Im digging the cast idea as well and will be adding some more holes once the solly plates are out.

Are the cast kickstarters even shipping yet?
And I guess I wouldn't want the current iteration of the cast where the alpine heel is always there. I'd want to swap both toe and heel. Maybe they already have that going on. Been a while since I looked.

curious why the heel matters on the climb? If you caught Griffon's segment on the Middle Teton in Way of Life the cast's seemed to work pretty well...

Basically it would be like having inserts on your skis, but only drilling once, and instead of a swap taking twenty minutes a swap takes 2 minutes. 916's + dynafits. Do the regular cast thing for side country and then on long tour's run just the dynafit's and leave the alpine bindings at home. Less weight.

Hey, kevino, I pressed some pure carbon Kusalas in a new layup yesterday to make the flex less stiff and weigh a measurable amount less. I've never asked you if the pure carbon layup rattled much on you when glacier skiing this past summer but assumed they might, so I added like three times the rubber in this most recent pair. Your pair had minimal rubber in them. How were they on the firms?

These skis are ridiculously beautiful. No matter how you look at them they shimmer in a new light. They never look the same. Like looking into far away galaxies. Pat's mysticism shining through.

I was hoping this post was some delectable Kusala imagery. I guessed exactly right. Great pictures.
Common sense. So rare today in America it's almost like having a superpower.

You're making it harder and harder to resist. How much do these weigh?

haha Zak...storm total for the last two days ended up about 2 ft. lots of face shots had today.

Pat I'm not really able to answer your question well yet. Even this summer when I skied them on glaciers it was soft corn and they just ripped right through sun cups. I know on a couple recent days on the return track to the car they have a little vibration.

Ahh! I'll be home in a week.

You gonna be back on the westside for Tday? Maybe go for a short tour?

Sub 2 kilos per ski. Cut them out and rough finished them today once they'd had 24 hrs of cure time. This was the first of this new layup and they came out with a 1mm positive camber and a tip height of 53mm. Not was I was expecting but I can now adjust and get the camber and tip height where I want it. Carbon can do some weird shit when you push beyond the typical layup. But there are ways to deal with it. If anyone wants this pair of less rockered Kusalas in pure carbon, gimme a shout.

Flex is money. Very soft at first, then it starts to resist and then it firms out once you get to a certain point. I've found that typical on the hybrids as well. But it's a bit more resistant once you get down into the bottom of the flex on these. Didn't happen without pics, so here they are.

Rough finished only. They'll lose at least another 10-15 grams.

That's them on edge. Not the splay or reverse I was hoping for.

Flex is sweet to me and I'm an elderly wimp.

Jondrums mounted up the softs with some of last year's blue Sollys.
He was pretty blown away at how light the set up was, comparable to his 191's with Plums. Hopefully they'll get some use at KW or Mammy next week.

Psyched for my pair to show up.... after a really long time ..... But doubtless better evolved...

Any thoughts about mounting the kusala's with dynafit radicals and skiing them with dynafit vulcans?

I figure if the vulcans can't drive them, then no AT boot can... Which would mean plan b with stiff alpine boots and dukes or something.

I think there's no worries about the vulcans being able to drive kusalas. I'm convinced they'll drive my 192 big bros just fine.

Sorry about the delay or your pair, John. Just wanted to get you the flex that would serve you best. Would have pressed them today but the transformer and power line into our building blew up and left us without power for the last two days. Got to press one pair of carbons today and yours get pressed tomorrow. As for vulcans - this ski is so easy to ski, I wouldn't sweat it a bit.

Jed - You ain't skiing yet???

My all carbon kusalas are mounted with speed radical and driven by vulcans.

If it helps in te decision making, I plan to drive mine with old Megarides/Intuitions until I have more money for new boots. After riding them last year, I have little doubt that even that relatively soft boot will drive them fine. Otherwise I'll need to add inserts for my Dukes. Which I really don't want to do. I'd rather be able to switch between Dynafiddles and a full alpine binding. I think.

Finally got a few turns in Saturday. Pretty mediocre conditions and shit light/blowing snow. Didn't really get a feel yet, they do skin nicely that's for sure.
