There's a "town hall" for pass holders up there Wednesday night to discuss the sale and future plans. I'm planning on going and will report back.

Maybe in a few years they'll change the name to "tracked out mountain"

The way that reads, it looks like they'll be changing the name to the Powder Mountain Club...

Dammit! The homey vibe is one of my 5000 favorite things about PowMow.... The other 4999 are acres of pow.

No doubt this will not end well for the riders.

    RIP $15 cat rides.

Well you can expect the # of chairlifts to quadruple. Millionaire condo owners aren’t going to want hike 45 minutes for a few fresh turns.

You have to wonder if PowMow was in some financial problems. It sucks, but powderhounds and brown baggers don’t pay the bills, vacationers and real estate owners do.

Yup...my thoughts exactly. This sale was rumored last spring and supposedly they were gonna change as little as possible...but the changes their talking about sound potentially awful and could ruin the vibe.

Since pow mow is completely on private property (no forest service land), I'm sure its one of the few mountains where they could easily do something like this.

I hope what they say Wednesday night eases my fears...

It would be nice if they could improve the lift system before they go BK.

Summit already purchased 1400 acres of the Wolf Creek development this summer.

So the basic idea is to have a hybrid-Yellowstone club.

I'm sure this will end well....

So its I'm rich and i get access to the pow and you locals can ski over there. Its the rich getting richer, don't they realize world change starts with we are all equal. POW MOW is gonna be exclusive, that blows
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

20 days skiing in 2009/2010 (15 Powder days)
18 days skiing in 2010/2011 (15 Powder days)
    16 days skiing in 2011/2012 (2 cat days and 11 Powder day's)
    18 days skiing in 2012/2013 (12 powder day's)

    Thanks BCSAR

    Fixed it.

Doesn't sound good unless you like concentrating the cocksuckers in one area. So I'm a fan of this development.

    RIP PowMow.

Sounds like it'll be the next Yellowstone Club, except all the wealth of the members will be held in the form of illiquid equity stakes in VC-financed money pits that will never make a nickel. Could this be the douchiest thing in the world? The only way to find out is to use a massive wad of cash to create a web site that uses speech recognition software to dump all the conversations you hear at PowMow starting in 2013 into a database. Apply text-mining software to the database and let anyone in the world access it, provided they can navigate the overly-minimalist UI. Then compare it to a "word cloud" of douchebag b-school buzzspeak. Set the remaining pile of VC money on fire. Then: you will have determined if this particular mass of humanity is in fact the worst in the world and will have made massive profit!!!!

Also: Peter Thiel is involved, so you know that this will be run with the same professionalism and keen eye for the bottom line that help his world-beating sea-steading operation and hedge fund turn so many heads!

am i the only one creeped out by these guys, the so-called "summit series" team? go ahead and peruse their website, if, you know, you want to be creeped out...

are we talking about a cult here? an arm of scientology? some sort of ponzi scheme? something is up, but based on the number of journalists apparently in their pockets already, i suspect some of the edgier corners will take a while to get at.

i remember reading about this group a while ago in an article in outside mag, which -- surprise! -- was written by thayer walker, who is now on their staff page with the goofy title of "explorer in residence" or some such. ogden peeps, provided you're not already all co-opted, please keep us posted on developments...

The economy sucks and money is tight, you just shot a wad for 40 million clams. Good luck financing the rest, The Yellowstone club was not the best business model, right!

Dammit.... That place kills it with good vibes... my 1st time there I was on vacation from work at Jay Peak and the Marketing Manager hooked me and 2 buds up with free passes for the day.. It helped that it was uber deep that day, but to top it all off at the end of our day I went back to find her and thank her for her kindness. She asked where we were staying as it was still dumping and I told her Sandy.. She asked me to stay put for a minute or two only to return with a key to one of the so called hotel rooms for me and my buds to stay in.. FOR FREE Ever since that experience I have been hooked.

When asked how it feels to always ski the first line, the guide replied, it's kinda like peeing your pants, everyone knows you did it, but only you know how good it feels!!!!

They ruined PowMow when they stopped letting people do their own shuttles.

So some rich folks bought a ski area. People are pissed, I get it. Regular folks rarely buy ski resorts as a money making investments and make money. You should be mad at the folks who sold the area to venture $$$ guys not the folks who bought the property. RIP PowMow.

My favorite mountain by far. I would go there as much as possible in college. I remember them doin $70 heli rides to the top of James peak.

Gonna be another Yellowstone club. Can't think but last years snowfall crushed them.

It's gonna be a bunch of hipsters with hoodies that can't ski for shit.

Couldn't they have taken over a shittier mountain. So disappointed rt now.
